If you need to get from Barcelona to Lloret de Mar then relax! It’s an easy, modestly priced and straightforward journey. Even so, the few tips outlined below might be very useful. • Arriving at Barcelona Airport There is no direct rail service, so your only direct transfer options from the airport at Barcelona to Lloret de Mar involve coaches, taxis or airport transfer services (cars and minibuses etc.). Coach services run from two of the airport terminals to Lloret. The service takes about two hours to cover the 75 kilometres and very roughly there is a coach about every two hours. They can be busy and at the present time, the cost is about 13euros for an adult. Airport transfer services are readily available but do make sure you book them no later than 24-48 hours before your arrival. Don’t just turn up and expect to find one! At the present time, for four people arriving in the middle of the day, the transfer cost would be about 60euros. A taxi will take about an hour to get you from Barcelona to Lloret de Mar and will cost around 150euros. If you are determined to take a train, you’ll need to get one from the airport to Barcelona centre. From there, you’ll take a train to Blanes and change again onto a shuttle service to get you to Lloret. • Arriving By Train As you’ll already be in central Barcelona, your onward train journey would be as per that outlined above. From the city centre you’ll have options for taxis and transfer vehicles – again as touched on above. Journey times may be a little faster and costs perhaps slightly lower on the whole. • Arriving By Sea To Barcelona Port At the time of writing, there is no direct coach or train service from the Port of Barcelona to Lloret de Mar. Once again, you will have options to pre-book a shuttle transfer or you can take a taxi, though the latter may be considerably more expensive. You can also take a taxi, shuttle transfer or public bus into the city centre for the train but again, this isn’t a direct service – please see above for train details. You could do likewise and connect up with the coach service if you wish though you’ll need to be careful with your timings if you want to avoid hanging around in the centre. It’s worth keeping in mind that public buses and some taxis may be limited in terms of their available luggage space, particularly in situations where a family is concerned. This should not be an issue with shuttle transfers as long as you remember to notify the shuttle provider in advance if you have particularly voluminous luggage requirements or pieces that are unusually heavy or awkwardly-sized. Examples in that latter category might be collapsible wheelchairs, musical instruments, surfboards and so on. Transport from Barcelona to Lloret de Mar isn’t difficult but do also remember if you’re using public or coach services, to check which terminal they depart from.
