It reduces the risk of dying in a fire emergency more or less by 60 percent. Also make sure to practice the escape plan routes with these elders so that during the emergency time they don’t stay confused and perplexed and are aware of the routes. They might not remember the way but at times in cases as these their instincts do guide them to the safety route. The elders should know how to unlock the doors and the windows. Using the fire exit signs for such cases requires a lot of pre-planning and thought process.
