Sometimes it can actually be boring and dull to have a day off. This need not be the case entirely should you be within the Newbury / West Berkshire area. This romantic county is renowned for its connections with the Royal Family and in itself Newbury has its own famed connections with Downton Abbey. This market town is also equally noted also for its setting and the surrounding countryside to which the town sits. With so many places to visit in Newbury, you can easily forget you're right on London’s doorstep. There are great transport links and on the train London is not too far away. Once in Newbury, it is best to note and remember the great number of lovely sights to see and take in. Two great areas to see and take in include The Living Rainforest and Beale Park. Much more simple and a great deal easier, it is also well worth a simple walk along the Kennet; perfect on a warm and sunny day. The Living Rainforest is highly recommended for the sight of the amazing animals on display in the enclosed, recreated, fully scaled environment. The Living Rainforest is home to 700 species of plants and animals. Watch birds, butterflies and lizards roam free to fully appreciated the spectacle of whats on offer. Based in Hampstead Norreys, this is just a short drive out of the town. Explore Small Island Rainforests between the 22nd July and 4th September; a small scale exhibition being held in the space. Overall, Newbury area has a fantastic offering of things to do and in another sense, something for everyone in terms of the wider overall offering of things to do. It is a great area to go to on the weekend as much as a great place to visit for the shopping and eating out offered. This is very much a town with a little to offer for everyone. Simply visit Newbury for a day out and you can be sure you will be able to find something cool and fun to do.
