Atlanta History Center This large complex includes a variety of museums, historic gardens and extraordinary historical houses from the 1860s to the 1920s. These homes and farms reveal what life in the South was like during different periods. The Swan House features the elegance of the 1930s; the Smith Family Farm allows visitors to get a glimpse of the Civil War era; a wood cabin reveals life in the earliest days of the city; and the Margaret Mitchell house examines the life of Margaret Mitchell, the author of "Gone with the Wind." World of Coca-Cola Many giants of industry call Atlanta home, including Delta Airlines, CNN News, and Coca-Cola. The soft drink maker allows visitors to take a look at the history of its product at the World of Coca-Cola. Guests can try more than 100 beverages from around the world in the tasting room. Fernbank Museum of Natural History In addition to exhibits dedicated to wowing guests with a look at natural history in Georgia, the museum hosts special events that really make natural history, science, and technology come alive. From trails and elevated tree pods, to forest bird walks, and hands-on dinosaur birthday bashes, this museum is more than just bones. Permanent exhibits include giants of the Mesozoic—dinosaur bones, a cultural exhibit with photographs, jewelry and masks, and a shell exhibit showcasing shells collected from the Georgia coastline. The city is known as the Gate City of the South and guests can get a real feel for the modern South with stops at a variety of Atlanta attractions.
