Many homeowners are upgrading their countertops from the builder grade laminate to a sturdier material. Concrete, marble, or granite countertops in Alpharetta seem to be the popular choices for many kitchen remodels. Granite Granite is probably the option chosen most often for several reasons. The marble can come in many different colors and patterns, so it fits well with almost any design motif. Because of the wide variety of colors and the widespread availability of granite, it is also one of the least expensive options for countertops. It is also the most durable of the natural stones, able to stand up to knives and hot pots easily. If it is not sealed properly, though, the granite will stain very easily. Marble Like granite, marble is also a very popular option for the kitchen. The beautiful white tones of the marble give any kitchen an elegant look that is timeless. It is also a very cool stone that does not conduct heat, so hot pots are not a problem. It is also a relatively inexpensive option because of its availability and the high demand. On the flip side, though, marble is not as durable as other materials and can be easily scratched by a knife or even pitted by a lemon slice. Engineered Stone Engineered stone is not really a slab of natural rock, but crushed up quartz that is pressed together with a hard resin. Once the mixture dries, the countertop is as hard as stone but with more benefits. There are numerous color options that resemble granite or marble. Like the other stones, the quartz will resist chipping and scratching, but it is also stain resistant. Citric acids, wine or other food items will not stain or pit the surface. The engineered countertops can also be less expensive because there is less labor involved and an endless supply of the man-made materials. Many people love the look of natural stone countertops for their kitchen. Whether they choose marble, engineered stone, or granite countertops in Alpharetta, the countertops will bring a style and look that makes any kitchen shine.
