After a damp, dark British winter there’s nothing like the sunshine of Easter to raise your family’s spirits, not to mention injecting some much needed vitamin D into their systems. Holidays at this time of year don’t need to cost the earth; whether you choose to enjoy a break here or abroad there are plenty of last minute deals to be had. Enjoy a UK Staycation Okay, so Easter is not a time of guaranteed sunshine in the British Isles (but then, let’s be honest, neither is mid-August) but if you’re willing to take a chance on the weather then there is a host of cheap family travel options to enjoy. From renting a caravan on the dramatic Devon coast to playing soldiers at the interactive National Army Museum during a stay in London, there is so much to do in the UK for families with young children. • The Lee Valley Campsite With a thousand acres of traffic-free parkland to explore and activities such as kayaking, canoeing and cycling to enjoy, this is a great option for parents with young children. • Caravans at Ladram Bay Explore the Jurassic Coast in Devon with a stay in one of the modern caravans in picturesque Ladram Bay and go fossil hunting with the kids this Easter. • Citadines Aparthotels For cheap family travel options, check out Citadines Aparthotels’ reasonably priced self-catering apartments across London. Venturing Further Afield If what you really want from a holiday is a bit of guaranteed sun then you will need to go a little further than our own south coast, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t still some fantastic, cheap family travel deals to be found. Spain and the Spanish islands offer some glorious sunshine at reasonable prices, especially when you take the time to look for last minute offers. Other options for good Easter deals include Portugal, Cyprus and the Greek islands; remember that holidays which haven’t sold by now will be offered at lower prices just to get people in, so take full advantage and bag yourself a deal. • A Villa in Majorca Some might say April is the best time to visit this beautiful Balearic island as the weather is great (average temperatures of 17ºC and up to seven hours of sunlight – just think of all that vitamin D).
