Fine Dining Restaurants for Business Travellers to Sydney

Travel & Tourism
There’s so much to think about when you’re arranging a work trip to the other side of the world, but while tickets and business travel insurance are vital, don’t forget the little details that will wow your contacts and make the trip even more successful!

The easiest way to do this in Australia’s financial hub, Sydney, is to take advantage of the city’s reputation for excellent fine dining.

There are great, world-class restaurants around the city, specialising in a wide variety of cuisines, so make sure you make a fantastic impression by wining and dining your Australian clients in style at one of these famous Sydney venues.

Tetsuya’s

An oasis of Eastern calm in central Sydney, Tetsuya’s specialises in elegant, Japanese-inspired dishes served as part of a sumptuous degustation menu.

Chef Tetsuya Wakuda creates a menu inspired by natural, seasonal ingredients which he uses to create dishes which combine his own Eastern influences and classic French techniques.

Examples of dishes on previous degustation menus include:

  • Tuna with saltbush and finger lime
  • Confit of ocean trout with a salad of celery and apple
  • Miso cured duck breast with sunflower kernels and leek
  • Wagyu sirloin with wild mushroom and purple kale
Bondi Icebergs Club

For something a little more quirky and laidback, book a table at the bistro at Bondi Icebergs Club. With stunning views over Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach, the Icebergs Club was set up in the 1920s as a winter swimmers’ club.

While today the swimming club is still going, the club restaurant, with its panoramic ocean views, has become one of the city’s coolest eating spots, making it the ideal place to wow clients. Your business travel insurance may not cover you for an Arctic winter dip in the ocean with the club’s swimmers, but you can certainly enjoy a feast in the warm, inviting dining room.

The menu is unapologetically Australian with an emphasis on delicious, fresh-from-the-ocean seafood.

Dishes include:

  • A Pot of Mussels – cooked in tomato, garlic, chilli and white wine
  • Sydney Rock Oysters
  • Surf & Turf – a Porterhouse steak topped with prawns
  • Grilled Barramundi fillet topped with herb and garlic butter
Aqua Dining

There are very few people who would find themselves unmoved by the stunning views from the terrace of Aqua Dining.

Set above North Sydney’s Olympic swimming pool, the terrace looks out over Sydney Harbour with its famous Sydney Harbour Bridge and Royal Opera House, across to Luna Park.

This Italian restaurant is elegant fine dining at its best, with crisp white linen table cloths and exquisite dishes created by Head Chef and co-owner Davide Rebeccato.

Dishes here could include:

  • Quail, blueberry, macadamia, foie gras
  • Risotto, Japanese pumpkin, roasted almond
  • Smoked trout agnolotti, asparagus, lemon gel
  • Blue Eye Trevalla, cacciucco, capsicum, red quinoa
O Bar And Dining

Another restaurant with an awe-inspiring view is the O Bar And Dining. The circular dining room on the 47th floor of this ultra cool eatery, close to Sydney Harbour, slowly rotates as you eat, giving you a genuine 360º view of the city below.

Arguably Chef (and co-owner) Michael Moore’s contemporary menu is every bit as stunning as the view. With an emphasis on healthy eating (there’s even a separate vegan menu) and innovation, a meal here can actually do you good, while feeling like an indulgent treat.

The menu changes with the season but may include:

  • Seared scallops with creamed labneh, tomato and lime jam, daikon, bottarga, sweetcorn shoots
  • Sashimi of yellowfin tuna filled with aromatic leaves and botanicals, nitro-dried hon miso, citrus sesame, red rice, nasturtium oil
  • Silken almond and white soy tofu, charred cauliflower blossom, marinated enoki, mixed seeds, pizzo leaves and raw soy
  • David Blackmore Wagyu Beef Girello cooked at low temperature with caramelised garlic paste, fermented vegetable farro, ghost kale
It’s always a bonus if you can combine work with getting to experience the great food and locations of another city, so make the most of your next trip ‘down under’ and explore Sydney’s great restaurant scene.

TOP TIP: As always, don’t forget to make sure you’re covered by a really good business travel insurance policy so that if anything goes wrong, you can continue enjoying your gastronomic adventure undisturbed.
