Invest in attractive decor People may visit bars in the first place to relax, but that doesn’t mean they are all seeking the same ‘vibe’ from their chosen establishment. Your bar may be based around a specific theme, aspire to the most sophisticated end of the market or aim to be cheap, cheerful and unpretentious. Strike the right balance with your pricing There is certainly an art to food and drink pricing when operating a bar. Choose a theme – and play to it Basing your bar on a specific theme can help to distinguish it from more generic rivals, but this is of little use if that theme is not reinforced throughout the bar. Whether your bar is tropical-themed, Irish-themed or something else entirely, you should consider how you can better target the customers who are most likely to take an interest in you. If you are situated near a university campus, for instance, you will likely place a greater emphasis on cheap drinks and a fun environment than you would if you were running a country club bar, where the wine list will probably be of far greater importance. 5.
