Lining town houses together has a new twist! Small pockets of pedestrian pathways and private patch-gardens open into larger gathering areas enlivening the community dwelling concept. A clear-cut zoning of private, semi-public and public makes the master plan of Zonasha Paradiso designed by Collage Architecture Studio incredibly unique. Right at the onset, vehicles are routed towards the periphery of the site and pedestrian movement is pushed to allow for a human connect and community interaction at the site level. As an active public node, the club house is zoned at the very end of the site. In a haphazardly burgeoning urban setting such as Bangalore, where few know their neighbours, this 52-town house setting is sure to break some walls! The interaction is organically woven into the master plan through various sizes of green pockets having varied functions. A well-defined veranda frontage of greenery for individual houses acts as a buffer and intimate gathering space. Each house is designed with a backyard, which becomes a more private and secluded green area creating the hierarchy in spaces. For unhampered pedestrian zones, each house is provided with an individual parking area, niched by going partially underground. Thus, the amount of land excavated is filled further by introducing spilt levels in each house, making each plot and the site, self-contained. Each split-level townhouse sits on a plot of 10m x 20m and is planned as a ground-plus-one structure. The traditional row house concept of shared common walls with adjacent units on one side and a service corridor on the other side is employed. Therefore, to let in natural light and ventilation, roof cut-outs are created. Additionally, scooping out the mass by creating punctures on the front and rear facade facilitate proper ventilation and improved quality of spaces. The project takes a healthy looks at the much-compromised breathing space in urban gated communities; whilst it prioritises user-comfort via an individualistic approach. check out the visuals on indiaartndesign.com
