Between a High Cube container and a Standard height container there is often an option when choosing a container to purchase or rent. These
Mobile Storage containers at a glance might look very similar. However, for each type of container there are different uses and benefits.
It’s usually delivered with the doors closed when a shipping container is delivered. When opening/closing the doors, it can create some big-time challenges if the container is dropped on a surface that is uneven. You can usually get the doors opened while it may be a bit difficult. However, to get them closed again it may be virtually impossible.
The reason is when it’s placed on an uneven surface because a container can rack or twist. Placing your shipping container Homes on as hard-packed a surface and level as possible (like gravel, asphalt, or concrete) is best.
However, on the bare ground the container can be placed as well if on a hard-packed surface you are unable to drop the container.
Levelling that area as best as possible is recommended when placing a shipping container on a dirt/grass surface. However, you may not be able to do so sometimes.
Just keep in mind, levelling the container is needed (two once it’s been dropped or by shimming up a corner).
It is suggested that a visual inspection of the doors must be performed before opening the doors of the container. If the container is not level or racked this is usually a pretty good indicator. On the seal / black rubber gasket that runs around the perimeter of each door you must focus. Straight across the top that gasket/seal should line up.
The container is most likely unlevel if one side is higher than the other. To close them again it may be very difficult if you try to open the doors now.
Using pressure treated lumber is recommended to shim up a corner(s) of your shipping container. An inch or two shimming up a corner may also be needed. To determine how much you need to shim up your container a bit of experimenting may be needed.
Across the top of the doors once you’ve added the shims the door gasket must be checked. You’ve probably done a good job levelling the container if the gasket is lined up. At this point, without a problem the doors of your shipping container should close or open.
It’s time to start loading it once you’ve determined that your shipping container is level. Throughout the container to how you distribute the load it’s important to pay attention. Going forward you may not experience any issues.
However, you may need to check how the product is distributed if you notice that after you’ve loaded the container the doors are difficult to close or open. With closing/ opening the doors for alleviating any issues moving some items around may be necessary.
You may want to check the corners of your container if you are still having trouble with the doors and your product have been distributed evenly. If the shipping container has been placed on dirt/ asphalt/ grass it’s possible that a corner may have started to sink a bit.
