INTRODUCTION: There have been unending discussions regarding creation in contrast to evolution. Perhaps the most talked about question when discussing this subject is whether or not mankind evolves from another species altogether. It’s important to know the answer to this question because where we come from says a lot about where we’re going. This article will examine this subject for the purpose of resolving this issue and arriving at a reasonable conclusion. |
There's a definite conflict between the theory of Creation, which holds that God created all things, and the theory of Evolution, which holds that man descended from another species. The theory of evolution arrived on the scene early in mankind's history and has gained a substantial foothold with the human race as a valid explanation for man's origin. However, at a closer look, it could be true that the theory of evolution is very much a part of the theory of creation so let's explore both theories.
The general theory of evolution states that life through modification descends from its original state into a newly-evolved condition. This belief expanded over time and was predicated most notably by Charles Darwin, who concluded that the theory of evolution involves a gradual change through natural selection. Natural selection is described as the process by which organisms transform over time as a result of beneficial changes in inherited physical and behavioral traits. These changes allow an organism to better adapt to its environment so it can survive. It's also stated that through this process, one species can undergo complete mutations into an entirely different species, such as apes into humans.
When reading about the theory of Evolution, one thing becomes obvious: it's an elaborately broad explanation of man’s origin and when studying this process, a person will find themselves lost in a world of highly technical assumptions and unpronounceable words! Now let's consider the theory of Creation.
What's totally invigorating to me is the fact that in the Bible, God explains the entire process of man’s origin in a simple format. The first chapter of Genesis summarizes creation like so:
Now, note what’s stated in the following verses:
- God created the heaven and the earth, and night and day with the lesser light (the stars) to rule over the night and the greater light (the sun) to rule over the day. (Genesis 1:1-5, 16 – 18, KJV);
- God created the dry land and the seas: the dry land produced grass, herb yielding seed, fruit trees yielding fruit, and the winged fowls (birds) in the air. God also brought forth other life forms such as whales, fishes and every living sea creature from the seas. (Genesis 1:9-12, 21, KJV)
- Also on the dry land, God brought forth the living creatures, creeping things and beasts of the earth (cattle, insects, reptiles, etc.). (Genesis 1:24-25, KJV)
- Lastly, God created man and woman in his image. (Genesis 1:26-27, KJV
"And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, . . .. Genesis 1:11, KJV
"And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: . . ." Genesis 1:21, KJV
"And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: . . ." Genesis 1:24, KJV
26.And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: . . .. 27.So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." Genesis 1:26- 27, KJV The entire span of the origin of life on this planet is covered in the first chapter of Genesis. I have highlighted the words "after his/their kind", "after our likeness" and "in his own image, in the image of God created he him" because I believe these words clearly state that each of God's creations are created specifically after their own kind and no one species evolves into a different species through a process of modification, natural selection or any other means! What has been established and well documented is that changes evolve within a specific group type, called micro-evolution, rather than a complete metamorphosis from one species into an entirely new life form, called macro-evolution.
As I alluded to earlier in this article, I believe mankind is definitely involved in a process of evolution, although not evolving from one species into a different species. I believe we are preparing to evolve into the spiritual beings which our Father intends for us to become. Note the following verses:
" Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, . . .” I Corinthians 15:51, KJV AND:
"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." I John 3:2, KJV I believe the human race is definitely in a process of evolution: a complete mutation from the terrestrial beings we are currently into the spiritual beings as originally intended by God. However, mankind is always looking for ways to remove our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ from our lives. We prefer to believe that we are responsible for our existence and in total control of our own lives, therefore having no need for God. So we invent theories involving the process of evolution to explain our presence, pacify our egos and appease our consciences. This allows us to continue living under the false pretense that we've adequately answered all the necessary questions on the origin of life.
However, whether we accept it or not, God IS the Creator and Master of this Universe we currently live in and lying to ourselves by producing far-fetched analyses to use as explanations for our existence is NOT going to change this fact. The sooner we accept this, the better off everyone will be.
