Cacti, armadillos, and cowboys are just a few of the things Texas is known for. But beyond all the folklore about barbeque, quick draws duels, and wild west stories lies a penchant for the finer things in life. Just because you are tough as Texas and have no problem off-roading or roughing it on a long camping trip, doesn’t mean you don’t enjoy some fine wining and dining now and then. Many are familiar with the stereo typical appeals to the great state, but not many know about all the vineyards creating some of the flavorful and unique wines all across the state. Weekend excursions to wine country for tours and tasting are frequent occurrences that are usually more fun once you’ve taken some time to figure out a place to stay ahead of time. Here is what I learned by staying at a Texas winery bed and breakfast. 1. Visiting wineries is fun If you are a wine aficionado who loves learning about wine and all that goes into making it, going on wine tours will have you jumping for joy. Not only are there many great places to visit, but they are usually free and offer opportunities to learn about different methods of wine production, variations in Texas weather and landscapes, and of course will also offer wine sampling. Wine tours are a great way to spend time with visiting friends and family or as a romantic retreat with your significant other. 2. Texas if beautiful There are many different types of landscapes in Texas. Most of the Texas wineries are found in gorgeous spots that offer beautiful views of the scenery. The rolling hills of Hill Country provide a wonderful chance to take in nature and forget the busy hustle and bustle of the surrounding cities. The peace and quiet provides the perfect backdrop to reconnect and converse with your loved ones and yourself- preferable with a delicious glass of wine. 3. Great wines Many people associate delicious wines with sunny days spent conversing on the porch or patio. With a wonderful view, great conversation, and flavorful wines, all is in order in the world. There are many wineries in Texas that offer unique and locally sourced wines for you to sample or purchase. Wine tours offer a way to peruse the grounds and many wine tasting spots have special scenic areas for sampling wines while taking in a breathtaking view. By merging nature and wine together, everything is enhanced. 4. Country hospitality Texans know how to treat each other when it comes to hospitality. The bed and breakfast spots at a winery will give you everything you seek. Delicious wines from Texas, wine touring, nature and breathtaking views, and more will give you everything you need to feel truly taken care of. At these B&B's you and your significant other will feel very well taken care of. For a great starting point, check out a destination and enjoy the festive and open spaces to meet others and enjoy one another's company. The next time you are feeling like you need to get away for the weekend, consider the Texas Hill Country and all that it provides.
