Back to Class The ski schools here accept children from the age of three and up, meaning that the majority of families can enrol their kids in a class or two. Of course, with children that young, the instructors focus on games and fun. They help the little ones build their confidence in a charming ‘snow garden’. A half-day session will be plenty for younger kids. From the age of five kids can be enrolled in specific courses depending on their level, from absolute beginners to champion skiers. These classes cover all the basics in a safe environment and give those who are more experienced a chance to whizz down the slopes. The courses usually last a week and you can choose either half or full days. Christmas brings shows and parades and, of course, an appearance from Father Christmas himself. Where to Go Each resort has areas suitable for children and beginners, so you don’t have to worry about finding somewhere safe for your kids to practice. For the littlest ones, head to the nursery slope at Montalbert as they have a lovely snow zone with music, a play area and models of dragons and fairies. Teenagers will prefer the new Fun Slope under the Arpette lift – part boardercross and part slope, it offers keen youths something a little different.
