Skiing for Beginners With six designated beginner areas, nine green runs, five free beginner lifts and more, this resort is extremely welcoming to those new to the slopes. Bellecote and Belle Plagne offer Zone Débutants for real newbies, while the area is packed with wide-open, gentle blue pistes. Ski Schools If even green runs are a little intimidating for your young ones, never fear – the resort is well served with top-quality ski schools. These offer a combination of teaching and childcare for children aged three and up, running full or half-day programmes. If you’d like to tackle some more difficult runs, or even retire to your La Plagne chalet for some peace and quiet, these schools will feel like a godsend. Events and Activities It may seem hard to believe, but plenty of guests come to this area with little to no interest in hitting the slopes. This means that, in addition to a flourishing après scene with some great bars and restaurants, the resort has a lot to do that doesn’t involve hurling yourself down a mountain on a couple planks of wood. Indoor activities range from badminton, basketball and bowling at the sports centre to several heated swimming pools and even a cinema. Those who want their kids looked after off the slopes can make use of a number of childcare and nursery options, while kids are also welcome to make their own fun by going out and sledging. If you’d still like to see the sights, husky rides and snowshoeing expeditions are available, offering a more peaceful, scenic view of this mountain wonderland. La Plagne Centre As the name suggests, this is the bustling centre of the resort. It has great access to the piste and a lot of accommodation on offer, and its location at the heart of the resort means it has the best choice for shops, bars, restaurants and more. Belle Plagne Just above Bellecote sits this pretty, village-style resort. It has probably the best range of catered chalets on the mountains, and decent access to the slopes – including some dedicated beginner areas. Plagne 1800 Finally, Plagne 1800 offers a compromise between the two. It’s well linked to the centre, but avoids the heaving crowds and sometimes unappealing apartment blocks. It rivals Belle for appearance and luxury, and is the best spot for Brits looking for a La Plagne chalet.
