Oxford Street The Oxford Street Christmas lights have always managed to attract visitors in their thousands, and this year is said to be no different. The street will be transformed with countless LED lights and festive decorations, giving it a magical Christmassy glow. Oxford Street’s lights will be on display until 06 January 2019. Carnaby Street The streets of Carnaby are dazzling at Christmastime, and this year the decorations are inspired by Queen. As you look up, you will spot the iconic lyrics from the world-famous song ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ along with many other references to the band. Browse the independent boutiques that line the streets and enjoy the festive menus on offer at various restaurants in the area. Whether you’re exploring in the daytime or want to see the night sky light up, Carnaby Street has plenty to offer. Enjoy Carnaby’s special display until 04 January 2019. London Zoo For something a little different, why not head to the zoo and check out the animal-themed festive display? London Zoo’s incredible illuminations make a great evening out for adults and children alike, with the twinkling decorations leading visitors on a magical trail through tunnels and around fountains. Once you have made your way through the lights, you can enjoy a ‘meet the penguins’ experience, indulge in some delicious mulled wine or have a ride on the carousel – the fun never ends! The final day of London Zoo’s Light Trail is 01 January 2019. Leadenhall Market Leadenhall Market is simply spectacular at this time of year, so you definitely shouldn’t miss out if you happen to be living in nearby student accommodation. London’s festive spirit is truly captured in the gigantic tree that takes centre stage in the market, and the surrounding stalls sell mulled wine and other seasonal goodies. Enjoy carols from the choir, bauble decorating workshops and of course, the sensational Christmas lights on display. Leadenhall Christmas Market will be open until 31 December 2018.
