Understanding Funeral Flowers

Sales
Funerals are very sad occasions and a way people express their sorrow and their condolences is to send flowers. Seeing so many different flowers in different arrangements can be good for the heart and soul as the bereaved live with their loss. With flowers you can say we miss the deceased too, we love you, and goodbye. Funeral flowers NJ or where you are, therefore take a lot of thought and when you have a good florist NJ they know how to say it the right way.

All flowers come with traditional meaning attached to them and that can be used in a respectful way at a funeral. They can be used to reflect the life and personality of the loved one that has passed, they can offer support to those left behind, or reflect your feelings about the deceased. Here is a look at the more common flowers used for funerals and why.

Top Funeral Flowers

The most common types of flowers seen in sympathy bouquets and funeral flowers are;

  • Rose
  • Aster
  • Delphinium
  • Gladiolus
  • Lily
  • Carnation
  • Daisy
  • Chrysanthemum
For a more traditional look, the arrangements have carnations and roses. A more modern look would have a mix of three or more different types of flowers.

Colors and arrangements

The colors you want depend on your personal choice. If you want the flowers to be uplifting on a very sad day, to put a smile on maybe a few faces then go for something bright like yellows, oranges or something really deep and bold like reds and purples. However more commonly arrangements are kept more muted using pastel colors. You may want to consider too where the funeral is happening, a large wreath made up of beautiful white flowers would fit in well with an old traditional funeral parlor. Bright colors would help lighten somewhere dark.

The arrangements are quite personal too. There are shapes that are traditional like wreaths or crosses. Having a word arranged in flowers is also common, like Mom, or Dad or something more general like Love. It depends on part on what religion if any the service is going to be done in, for example, a cross if not something to send if the funeral is Sikh but is fine for Catholics.

For something more informal the funeral flowers NJ can also be made into casket sprays, baskets, posies, bouquets, and even potted plants. If you want an arrangement in a vase that can happen too and then ask for the funeral organizers to set them out. On top of the coffin, the sprays will be placed, and most of the rest are placed around the room of the service, or out in a mourning area where attendees can gather after.

Summary

You will find many a florist NJ will offer funeral flower services but some actually specialize in it. Some funeral homes work with florists they recommend and can offer you packages right there when you are arranging the funeral details so you do not have to go to someone separate, but if you have a florist you are loyal to that can be accommodated too.
