This dating advice for women is taken from my own (many!) years of being on the dating scene. It’s not definitive; just my own opinion! Here are my tips for the first few dates: Always look your best and don’t assume that turning up in a pair of jeans on the first date is acceptable. It is important to wear what you are comfortable in but dress to impress. Beautiful hair and some lipstick will work wonders. You have the advantage, you are the woman. Let him pay! In this modern world where gender roles have been eroded, this is one that you can take advantage of. Seriously, if he wants to pay, let him; to push against this might offend his sense of nobility. Make sure your kissing is up to scratch! A real man will view this as being very important; it’s his way of gauging your ‘sexual potential’. You can be a little late; but he can’t! If he brings you a gift, don’t be embarrassed and don’t read into it; he may just be a very kind man! Don’t give away too much about yourself too soon: a mysterious woman drives real men wild. Don’t allow the first date to last too long; but if you want to see him again, be coy, but make sure that he knows. Less is always more. Be realistic about your body-shape and don’t try to hide it. It isn’t always body-shape that turns a man off; it’s lack of confidence. If he brings flowers then be gracious, but don’t overdo it. Remember, it’s all part of the ‘dance’ of the first date. Just don’t mention sex on the first date. If he does, then be cautious. Certainly don’t tell him that you don’t intend having sex until you get close to each other (you can think this but don’t tell him!). Always be a little unavailable and even risk turning him down for the next date that he asks for; but be careful to let him know enough that you are still interested. Fight this one! You certainly don’t want to change your life too much just to have a man in your life. If any man shows the slightest signs of possessiveness or insecurity run away! Life is too short for another round of baggage. Never ever talk about previous partners and particularly your previous sex life. Don’t make assumptions too early-on about your date; you are both slightly nervous, hopefully being healthily cautious and almost certainly feeling quite self-conscious and vulnerable. But don’t worry; if he is genuine, then he will most likely be feeling all of these things too.
