Window film or, as the product is also known, window tint, is a film or coating which improves the energy efficiency of your windows. Window films or window tints are adhesive films applied to the inside of your existing windows.
These window films can be transparent or tinted. Because they’re applied to windows you already have, the window films are usually installed as a retrofit. Homeowners can often install the film themselves, though some films must be installed by professionals. Most window films are made from clear polyester, which blocks the sun’s UV rays while allowing natural light in. Older technology uses dye or pigments to tint the films. These tinted films absorb instead of block the UV radiation. Tinted films, however, also block a lot of visible light. The modern polyester films are more durable than the tinted films, which can deteriorate after a lot of sun exposure.

Most of the reputed residential window installers and manufacturers will offer coloured glass, and you may be able to order custom colours if you have a specific colour scheme you love.
