The decision to outsource telemarketing to a call center is not always an easy one. Telemarketing outsourcing can be a new and different venture to companies that have been cold calling from the beginning. Choosing an outsourcing company can be difficult. You first must decide if you want to use a local center, a US based center, or an offshore call center. Verify the experience of the management team and read through their testimonials. Compare their pricing to that of their competitors and make your decision. Once you have selected a service provider that is the best fit for your business, you will need to decide what business functions you would like to outsource. Here are a few ideas of ways to get started with call center outsourcing.

Telemarketing Surveys

If you are not ready to outsource higher end activities like appointment setting and inside sales, outsourcing telemarketing surveys is a great place to start. A typical survey or polling campaign will involve your call center of choice placing outbound calls to prospects or your target market in general. This method of cold calling usually has the highest propensity for success. Develop a script and polls for your agents to read to the phone call recipients. Be sure that your questions aren't biased to lead recipients to answer one way or another. This will ensure that the data your telemarketer collects will have the greatest value for your organization.

Lead Generation

Once you have had initial success through survey telemarketing, lead generation services are a smart next step. Call centers will hire telemarketers who will help your company generate new leads and qualify existing data. Companies will typically charge by the hour for outbound agents. Some providers will offer pricing via a pay for performance model. This method will allow you only to pay for leads that are generated. Be wary of companies that offer this type of pricing as they are usually less reputable and often are fly by night organizations.

Market Research

Market research is extremely important to understand your business and your customers. You can hire agents to gather data online through social networks or other sources you specify. You can utilize the telemarketing surveys you have previously conducted, or coordinate a new campaign to work in sympathy with your market research project. The market data you collect will help your business better understand both your current customers and those you are attempting to convert.

Virtual Assistant Services

If you don't want a large scale telemarketing operation, most call centers will provide you with a virtual assistant to help you handle the smaller things you need to get done. A virtual assistant can fulfill your appointment setting needs while taking care of other necessary tasks such as email marketing, traffic building, and travel planning.

You should begin to see results once your call center campaign is off the ground. Follow up with your telemarketers and your call center management team periodically to assess performance. You can scale up your call center outsourcing project depending on your return on investment.
