The beautiful French resort of Chamonix in the picturesque Haute-Savoie region is a wonderful place for a winter holiday with the little ones. I think that it is one of the most scenic areas in the entire world, plus it boasts fantastic skiing, plenty of culture and dozens of fun activities to keep the little ones happy. Fear not, though, as I have spoken with several families who have been to Chamonix with toddlers and they have highly recommended the following child-friendly eateries and commented on the wide variety of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Poco Loco – A fun and lively restaurant that serves up burgers, hot sandwiches, crepes and other kid-friendly dishes (and good beer for mum and dad). You can soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the views at their large outdoor seating section, or opt for a takeaway to eat back at your apartment. Pizzeria de Moulins – Pizza is always a great option for kids and adults alike and this family-friendly pizzeria has a wide menu of delicious pizzas along with other Italian dishes (and an extensive wine menu). It is a warm and welcoming restaurant with superb service and low prices, rated the number 1 family restaurant in Chamonix on TripAdvisor. Find it at 109 rue des Moulins, 74400 Cool Cats – Head to this superb and welcoming establishment for a variety of tantalising street food that the kids are sure to love. They are famous for their mouth-watering hot dogs that use sausages from local butchers, seasoning from local forests, carefully selected bread from local bakers. There are dozens of tasty garnishes and toppings to choose from, as well as of sides, beverages and desserts. One hot dog costs around £8. Find it at 116 Rue des Moulins, 74400. Monkey – Monkey has a fantastic atmosphere with laid-back staff, funky music, cool décor and delicious burgers (roughly £10), tacos, burritos and other street food. There is also a brunch menu if you are looking for somewhere to eat earlier in the day. It is a welcoming and child-friendly place, but you can also enjoy an alcoholic drink or two and catch some live music. Find it at 81 Place Edmond Desailloud, 74400. Le Monchu – A cosy, warm and cheerful establishment that serves traditional local food in a beautiful dining room with a roaring fireplace - this is a lovely place to head for a special meal on your holiday. The menu may not be as kid-friendly as other places, but there are still options for youngsters and the tantalising desserts menu is sure to keep them (and you!) happy.
