It's all well and good to change to a better, natural and healthier diet, and knowing where the goodness is coming from. But do we know where the dangers are hidden in our everyday foods many of us are eating? We just assume because it looks and smells good, not having any second thought that it could affect our health. Even if sickness does come along we wouldn't realize that food is the cause of it. Shopping made easy and as pleasurable as possible for us, the consumer. Strolling up and down the aisles in a food store with large varieties of all sorts of delicious, colorful wrapped and well-presented foods, no one would ever think that any of this would be unhealthy and could be a trigger point for any sickness. After all, why would you for instance choose to buy a cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower or anything else for that matter that you have to prepare and to cook it instead of choosing an already prepared meal of the shelf ready to eat? It doesn't make any sense! Or does it? The ingredients we don't know about! Do we really want to put chemically man-made ingredients into our body that does not exist anywhere in a natural way? Who reads labels? Even for the ones who do read them the chances are they won't get any wiser from it. Small print is difficult to read, some of the words most of us don't understand, and some of the ingredients to print are conveniently forgotten. Regardless what the label says the harmful chemicals, preservatives, flavor enhancers, coloring being disguised under names and therefore unrecognizable by the shopper. There are over 3000 chemicals on average added to the food supply and avoiding them is just impossible. Because the label says it is low on calories doesn't mean it's a healthy choice. More is needed to expose the hidden dangerous food additives that are lurking in processed foods and still promoted as "healthy foods". In today's food market food stores and supermarkets represent 80 percent of processed and packaged foods. For the danger of the convenience in food we are paying a high price. If food is good the way it is, why is it processed? One of the reasons, foods the natural way would have a short shelf-live. Because of the ingredients and chemicals processed foods have a longer shelf-life, are more convenient for the end-user and profitable for business, but disastrous for our health. It is general knowledge that processed "white foods" are unhealthy; as an example, white sugar, white flour, white rice, these are all empty calories, not natural and unhealthy. The exact opposite to this are white vegetables which are highly nutritious, rich in fiber, magnesium, potassium and more. Another example would be mushrooms; the colored ones are poisonous, where the colorless mushrooms are safe and healthy to eat. What effect does it have on us? The key to any dietary or health situation: Step number one is changing processed foods for whole foods and replacing carbohydrates with good type of fats. Processed food is the main cause of obesity, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, heart disease etc. As we age and some illness comes along, the weight may increase, we get told it probably got something to do with our genes, and at a certain age we have to expect such things. No excuses about age. Although the body chemistry changes with age, you still can lose weight, and maintaining a slim body, rebuild your muscles, and improve your health at any age. Processed foods are highly addictive because of its many preservatives, harmful toxins and chemicals such as phosphates that are unhealthy to our organs, bones, increases rapid aging and kidney deterioration. Certain chemicals in processed food such as refined sugar, flour, oils and many others cause chronic inflammation. This type of foods also ruins digestion because the removal of natural fibers, enzymes, vitamins plus other nutrients. Chronic consumption of such foods can interfere with the balance in your internal ecosystem; it also can harm the probiotics which are the live bacteria inside the gut. Many breakfast cereals have been found to contain up to 70 different types of pesticides and chemicals related to GMOs (genetically modified organisms.) Unfortunately, processed foods are actually not foods. Where real food will grow mould and rot, processed fake foods stay the same in appearance no matter what their age. Knowing and understanding about how these foods affect our body and health it becomes easier to make better and healthier food choices and eliminating processed food step by step from your diet.
