Equip Your Office With an Alarm System!

Business,Finance & Investment,Real Estate
A top-notch, professionally installed alarm system is one of the hallmarks of any reputable office space, including those obtained through an office lease. They help to ensure that any would-be thieves can be kept at bay, giving business proprietors added peace of mind. These systems may be wired or wireless, monitored or unmonitored, depending upon the nature and requirements of each individual business.

In order to choose an alarm system best suited for the needs of each individual company, it is imperative to have a thorough understanding of how the various systems function.

  • Monitored - This type of device maintains constant vigilance of an office building and is directly connected to a monitoring center where there is 24/7 supervision. The device itself is a sensor that is generally mounted on some type of panel, such as a door, window etc., and has telephonic connection through which private patrol security officers or the local police station are automatically alerted in the case of the detection of activity within the secured building.
  • Sound - These devices are simply mounted onto an external surface and programmed so that a loud bell will ring in the case of theft or vandalism; however, such devices are only good for scaring away possible burglars or thieves and alerting people who are located nearby; they do not provide any type of evidence in the case of an actual robbery. Moreover, during the night when most companies are closed for the day, these devices are of little value as usually no one will hear or respond to the alert.
  • Wireless - As opposed to wired counterparts which are expensive and tedious to build and require a large capital investment by a company, wireless devices are less expensive, easy to operate, and designed with ergonomics in mind. Through the use of a router, wireless network and a LAN connected laptop or desk-top computer, the office area can be well-monitored within a radius of approximately 3,280 feet.
  • Motion Detectors and Zonal Alarms - These are used to monitor the occurrence of attempted robberies or thefts within a particular zone or area. Devices such as car key fobs, panic buttons, zone indicators and touch pads can help secure various places in a large building. Separate places, such as doors, windows, safes, and vaults can be fitted with buzzer fixtures that are connected to wireless routers to automatically send alarms to the control rooms. For extremely large businesses with large buildings, parking ramps, garages, etc., motion detection and zonal alarms are of the utmost importance.
  • Video Cameras- These devices are by far the most sophisticated and favorable alarm systems available on the market today. They function by recording videos of all of the surrounding areas and comparing each instantly recorded video with the previously recorded one. Any discrepancy in these recordings is saved and reported to the control rooms. This allows companies to have irrefutable evidence if, or when, any burglaries occur on the premises. Furthermore, this device is available in a variety of forms, such as a spy pen, spy flower pots, "nanny cams," calculators, etc. - basically almost anything can be fitted with security cameras for surveillance.

    Installation Vantage Points

Important vantage points such as entry gates, places that are easy to access by climbing, and other easily accessible openings are covered by the chosen alarm system so that all areas of the business property are adequately monitored. It is also equally important for a business to thoroughly research the various surveillance companies located in the area and obtain installation estimates from each of them before choosing one for security needs.

Security is an important aspect for every business and should be taken seriously in order to protect both the employees and the assets of a company. The various devices that are available on the market today, when properly installed by professionals and used in the correct manner, can ensure the safety of employees as well as company assets. All of this should be carefully considered so that the right choice is made when equipping an office space with an alarm system!
