Researchers say they have developed an HIV test that employs a common USB stick. The device, which makes a diagnosis using a drop of blood, was developed by researchers at Imperial College London and a company called DNA Electronics. A simple eye test may eventually be used detect the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease, according to a new study on laboratory mice. Writing in the journal Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences, researchers from the University of Minnesota say the discovery could pave the way for a noninvasive test for humans. Spring comes earlier to dense cities, and while that might be great for city gardeners and outdoorsy types, it might be bad for native birds and insects.
