A vascular headache is an outdated term to describe certain types of headache which were thought to be related to blood vessel swelling and hyperemia as cause of the pain. There is no doubt that some headaches are caused by vascular effects. However, it is no longer a recognized term and not mentioned in the Headache classification of the International Headache society (IHS),[1] although it is still used by some physicians and still mentioned in some medical classification systems. Headaches that were described as being vascular headaches include >LMN only PMA&_160;· PBP (Fazio-Londe, Infantile progressive bulbar palsy)&_160;· SMA (SMN-linked, Kennedy disease, SMAX2, DSMA1)

September 24, 2009
Amazing! This information from the blood vessels has to pass through the BRAINSTEM on the way to the cortex … and w... (read more)

The issue here is that many of these painkillers require repeat prescriptions and involve an ongoing cost. A migraine is a splitting headache that just seems to set in apparently due to no reason at all. The reasons for a migraine are mainly vascular. May 19, 2009
Migraine is a term which is quite common to many of us. The term migraine refers to a kind of painful and throbbing headache. A migraine is caused when nerve cells produce pains signals in the brain due to vascular contractions and expansions. Actual migraine causes has not been determined.

6. Top 20 Effective Home Remedies for Migraine
April 24, 2009
Migraine is a type of vascular headache. It is due to the enlargement of the vasodilatation and releasing of the chemicals from the nerve fibers that are coiled around the blood vessels. When migraine attack is there, the temporal artery gets enlarged. The temporal artery is located on the outskirt of the skull, just below the skin of one’s temple. The enlargement of the temporal artery leads to the stretching of the nerves to release the chemicals. The inflammation results in pain and causes further enlargement of the artery, thus increasing the pain.
