Author Comment / Biography: When Linnaea Mallette was four years old, a high fever seared away a large portion of her hearing. As a person with a profound hearing loss, Linnaea reads lips to help her “hear.” She is the recipient of the Oticon Focus on People Award given to twelve individuals nationwide who defy stereotypes about being hearing impaired.
Linnaea has been featured in UCLA Today, UCLA Spotlight, and honored with a nomination for the Chancellor’s True Bruin award for her service to the UCLA research community.
She was a District Governor for Toastmasters International in 2003-04 and received awards for her leadership successes.
Her latest book about hearing loss is based on her life experiences, incorporating insights she has gained about communicating effectively from her 20 plus years experience as a professional speaker.
The book is titled "Hearing Loss Tips for Those Who Have it and Those Who Don't." It is available on Amazon.
