Physical exercise is any bodily activity that enhances or maintains physical fitness and overall health. It is performed for many different reasons. These include strengthening muscles and the cardiovascular system, honing athletic skills, weight loss or maintenance and for enjoyment. Frequent and regular physical exercise boosts the immune system, and helps prevent the " diseases of affluence" such as heart disease, cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes and obesity. [1][2] It also improves mental health, helps prevent depression, helps to promote or maintain positive self-esteem, and can even augment an individual's sex appeal. [citation needed] Childhood obesity is a growing global concern [3] and physical exercise may help decrease the effects of childhood obesity in developed countries. Exercises are generally grouped into three types depending on the overall effect they have on the human body Sometimes the terms 'dynamic' and 'static' are used. 'Dynamic' exercises such as steady running, tend to produce a lowering of the diastolic blood pressure during exercise, due to the improved blood flow. Conversely, static exercise (such as weight-lifting) can cause the systolic pressure to rise significantly (during the exercise). Physical exercise is important for maintaining physical fitness and can contribute positively to maintaining a healthy weight, building and maintaining healthy bone density, muscle strength, and joint mobility, promoting physiological well-being, reducing surgical risks, and strengthening the immune system.

4. Loan Dispute Mediation
November 19, 2009
While opinions differ on the percentage of loan workouts that wind up in default, there’s no question that a large number of them do. Foreclosure often leads to disputes, which lead us to mediation. Mediation, which should not be confused with arbitration, (FN1) is simply a formalized attempt by the parties to resolve differences, with the assistance of a skilled third party negotiator. Mediation can be brought about by a contractual agreement (that originated prior to the dispute) or by mutual agreement when a dispute arises.
First, why mediation? There are some key benefits aside ... (read more)

9. Ab Workout Plan
November 19, 2009
A great looking set of abs starts with an ab workout plan. As with any exercise routine, you should not expect results over night. The main idea is getting into a routine and then sticking with it. Bad habits are ten times easier to form than good ones, and an ab workout plan should be a good habit you start now. The main thing to remember about abs is that they are the major support system of your body or “core”. If your core is weak, then the rest of your body does not have the proper support to function normally. A great place to start your ab routine is with your back. The lower... (read more)

17. How Hard Work = Better Cardio Workouts
November 16, 2009
They say it's better to work smart than to work hard. But when it comes to your cardio workouts, that might not be the case.
Now, that doesn't mean you should go out and do anything that's dangerous, or that you should throw caution to the wind when performing your workouts. That's not it.
However, it is erroneous to think that just because a certain machine or type of exercise is "easier" than another, and that you can even "do more" (supposedly), that you'll get more benefit.
For instance, most folks can run a lot further on a treadmill or elliptical trainer than they can outs... (read more)

18. Why 'easier' Cardio Isn't 'better' Cardio
November 16, 2009
My dad always told me that it was more effecient - and easier - to work smart instead of working hard. To do this, you want to always find the most effective way of doing something.
In most areas of life, I'd say that the lesson of working smart instead of hard is one of the most valuable lessons you can learn. However, such isn't necessarily the case when it comes to your cardio workouts.
There are some areas of the fitness industry in which working smart vs. working hard has become quite a topic of discussion. Most of the time, this has been because somebody is backing or promoting... (read more)

19. Why Doing More Work Increases Your Cardio
November 16, 2009
There is a popular martial arts quote that I'd like to tell you about.
"Conditioning is the greatest hold." - Karl Gotch
Gotch's quote simply says that no matter what techniques you (or your opponent) know, if you have better cardio, and can push the fight/match longer and harder, then you'll have the upper hand.
Now, you might not be an athlete, a fighter, or even anybody who competes in anything right now. But that doesn't mean you still can't apply this to your own life.
There are many elements to a good cardio workout (and in turn, having good cardio), but one of - if n... (read more)

20. Cardio Distance Vs Cardio Intensity
November 16, 2009
When it comes to doing cardio workouts, there are two basic methods you can use - LSD and HIIT.
LSD = Long Slow Distance. A perfect example is jogging for a few miles.
HIIT = High Intensity Interval Training. A perfect example is sprinting.
LSD and HIIT are on complete opposite ends of the cardio continuum because of simple design. LSD is long, but slow. HIIT is short, but very fast.
Well, intensity and duration, as they pertain to your cardio workouts, have an inverse relationship. The the more intense you work (i.e. - the faster you go), the shorter the duration has to be... (read more)

21. Why You Should Look at Alternative Cardio
November 16, 2009
In most fitness circles, there are two main "types" of cardio that tends to get discussed. The first is LSD (Long Slow Distance) - an example of which would be jogging. The next is HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) - an example of which would be sprinting.
For various reasons, HIIT is generally considered a better form of cardio than LSD. This is because it doesn't take as long to perform as LSD, is more power-based, is generally easier on the body physically, contributes to both aerobic and anaerobic increases, and keeps the metabolism "jacked up" for several hours after your worko... 22. What to Watch For When Doing Interval Training
November 16, 2009
The enormous benefits of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) cardio workouts have become widely known in the fitness industry in recent years. However, as great as HIIT is, unless you keep your intensity super-high, you're not only going to get sub-optimal results, you'll get poor results. And if you're going to get poor HIIT results, you might as well be doing LSD (Long Slow Distance) training.
So, how do you make sure you get optimal results from your HIIT cardio workouts?
Personally, I think that HIIT is best suited for only a few types of activities. The best is simply runnin... (read more)
