I once watched a TED Talk by Apollo Robbins, who describes himself as… |
“The World’s Leading Expert on Pickpockets.”
Funnily enough, his appearance reminds me a lot of Seth MacFarlane.
But that’s besides the point.
In the video, he talked about how he can pickpocket somebody’s watch, wallet, or phone by manipulating their attention.
He even demonstrated this by picking a victi-
I mean, volunteer from the audience.
At first, it seemed like he was performing an illusion with a poker chip. But while all that’s happening, he pickpocketed the volunteer’s watch, cash, and credit cards.
He takes misdirection to a whole ‘nother level.
Instead of doing it the traditional way where he makes the volunteer look in the opposite direction while he does his stuff, he manipulates his attention in a way where he doesn’t even know he’s being distracted.
Which results in shock when he realizes everything he possessed ended up in the pockets of Apollo Robbins.
While all that is great and can be fun to watch as a street performance, manipulating someone and stealing their money is highly unethical (And illegal) in business.
There are so many of these fake Internet Business Mentors that make empty promises and sell products to their customers that don’t help at all.
If you look in the right places of the Internet, there’s proof that this has been happening.
That also explains why there’s so much mistrust and skepticism, and rightfully so.
