In the gospel of Luke Chaper s verse 32 Jesus says, I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers." Here, Jesus is telling Peter he has prayed for him, that the prayer is has already taken place. Using the model of prayer, given here by Jesus, you do want to get some prayers in, whether or not it is with the caveat before it is too late. The prayer Jesus is referring to is intercessory, pertains to both personal and spiritual matters of both Peter and people he is in contact with now and people he may be in contact with in the future. It is always a good policy to pray for people in both your inner and out circle of friends and acquaintances, as this prayer alludes to in saying that it is not only for Peter but for others that Peter will be dealing with at both a personal and spiritual level. Your prayer might be bigger than this in scope, like praying for all the women in India, but irregardless, you want to get that prayer in, not knowing what results might pour in, or if you will ever really know the results, but yes the Holy Spirit might confirm the prayer, which tells you something right there as to its potential efficacy. Like at the track, you want to get your bets in before the horses leave the starting get, after thawt it is too late. Another aspect of this passage, if praying for strength over weaknesses. An illness could call for healing or strengthening but any problem you might have, physical, spiritual, emotional, financial, you can use this model and pray for a strengthening, of say an aching back, ailing finances, disappointing relationships. plans going awry, or simply in seeking a better grasp on an issue So at least maybe explore that angle, whatever the specific issue is, pray for a strenghening. But also arrive at the point, where you have prayers in. In the better world you might take all bets off the table but you nefer want to not get those prayers in and front and center out on the table.
