What signs grab your eye? 90% of the clients we had done this exercise said that light letters and a dark background definitely caught their eye more quickly than dark letters on a light background.... 154. Native American Headdresses, A Mark of the American Indian Identity
August 31, 2014

Historically, headdresses are a symbol of respect worn by Native American war chiefs and warriors. For Great Plains tribes, for instance, each feather placed on a headdress has significance and had to be earned through an act of compassion or bravery. Some modern-day Native American leaders have received war bonnets in ceremonies accompanied by prayers and songs. When you see an Indian wearing a full Indian headdress in pictures or even today, you would know that he's a very honorable man. He's a leader and someone who is respected by his tribe. 155. Can You Apply Decals on Painted Wood and Wall? And, Taking Stickers Off Sticky Paper Backing
August 26, 2014

LAST UPDATED ON: February 28, 2018 Are Decals Applicable on Painted Wood? Generally yes. It depends, of course, on a couple factors. The first factor is how rough is the wood the paint is on? If the wood is very rough, it would need to be sanded well before painting it. Then you can stick vinyl to it. The other factor is how long has it been since the board was painted? Assuming the board was relatively smooth, you should wait, at a bare minimum, a week before applying vinyl decals to it. I recommend 2 weeks, but I've been known on occasion to push the limits. However, o... (read more)

What does the University of Michigan and quilting have in common? Thanks to former graduate student Kyra Hicks, quite a bit. The student happened into an exhibit of African American quilts on display in Cincinnati, Ohio when the quilting bug caught her. At the time, she was taking a course in black women’s feminist thought and her class was delving into the world of African American quilts. Her grad course coupled with what she calls a stunning display instantly made her want to quilt for herself. “This is how I want to tell stories,” she says. August 13, 2014

LAST UPDATED ON: February 22, 2018 This is a pretty broad-based question as it has less to do with what is being printed versus what type of printing is being used to make the posters and banners, although material will also have somewhat to do with the type of imprinting being done. With poster print processing, the type of inks being used are potentially several different types, again, depending on the printer itself. If you need a short run of posters, the most cost effective way will be is to have a digital company print you posters on a roll-to-roll wide format digital pri... (read more)

168. Removing Bubbles Under Vinyl Stickers or Decals
July 28, 2014

LAST UPDATED ON: February 11, 2018 Well, there are a couple of questions I have. Is it a face adhesive decal or a face-adhering static cling sticker? There will be different answers for each of these items. For Static Cling Stickers If it is a static cling sticker, you can remove it, wet it with lightly soapy water, re-stick it to the glass, and the water will evaporate out over the next day or two. We find that with static cling decals, often the decal will relax into the glass in two or three days and most of the bubbles will automatically disappear. For Vinyl Adhesi... (read more)

However, moisture is introduced into the backing of carpet. As the spot dries, the material that is in the backing wicks back into the pile. When the carpet is cleaned, it looks good. When it dries, the spots and traffic areas come back. The good news is that if a spot actually wi... (read more)

July 25, 2014

Very few carpet cleaners are proficient in the science of tough stain removal. Regular vacuuming provides the first line of defense against dirt and grit that damages carpet fibers. But carpets also need regular cleaning to keep them looking their best. An observation should be made regarding slight changes in color usually seen in older rugs for this happens when the weaver starts weaving with a yarn from a different dye lot ... (read more)
