People use different materials while performing daily chores. These products offer ease of use, comfort and don’t cause you splurge a lot, definitely a big draw for most. These are either use-&-throw type or can be used multiple times. In both categories, expanded polystyrene or EPS finds a predominant use in both household units and corporate sectors. EPS is available in a variety of forms, with same genetic makeup but structural differences. Its most visible applications are best realized in kitchens. Polystyrene food trays and cups are a common find in our daily life and especially used in office kitchens apart from tea or coffee stalls. What is EPS? EPS Packaging Materials in India are mainly used as packaging box and other kitchen products mentioned above. In addition, EPS materials are also used for insulation and construction as well. A little known fact is they are used as hot tub cover in spa salons. EPS, which is usually a white material, is formed by chemically combining benzene and ethylene to form styrene, a different compound. When other chemicals are used in formation process, styrene molecules undergo polymerization. For further expansion and fusion of the beads, low pressure steam is passed through the polymerized styrene molecules. EPS thus produced comes as a tough structure in the form of thermocole sheets containing cell like tiny pores which are close to each other. It is now ready to use as a cushion for different materials including fragile items and structures requiring insulation. The ratio of foam’s insulation/strength and weight makes EPS ideal to be used as an insulated cover for spa. How EPS works in a spa? Spa cover is kind of a sealing material preventing the heat from escaping. Used on the hot-tub’s surface, its main function is to keep the heat intact in spa, instead of letting it find a way out. Insulation is important for electric appliances or anything relying on electric treatment. When used in spa, EPS also helps the elderly people and children avoid accidental tripping and also keep the leaves, insects and debris away from the hot tub. EPS is power saving That’s true but only if you are using a super-grade, industry standard-compliant EPS. It is the high insulating abilities in EPS foam cores that save a great deal on your monthly power bill. The layer’s surrounding foams also feature insulation quality. These layers enhance thermal resistance value of spa covers. It is mandatory for every company in Quality Thermopack and Insulation Industries Bangalore to use R-value which indicates amount of heat drainage in a certain period of time. Arthur Mill is a mechanical engineer working with a renowned Bangalore based thermocole manufacturing company. He is well versed in manufacturing and use of EPS Packaging Materials in India.
