List building combined with email marketing has become a very powerful way to make money online. Many top affiliate marketers and product creators are making a lot of money with email marketing. Two of the main contributors for being successful with email marketing is the size of your email list and how targeted your email list subscribers are. Email lists are also great for being a driver of traffic to your website. To be successful with internet marketing you will need to have a good understanding of email marketing. What is email list building? Before we get too deep into things let’s discuss what an email list is and what email list building is. An email list is a group of individuals also known as subscribers who have subscribed to receive emails from you. This is usually done through what is called an opt in form which is a sign up form to subscribe to your email list. If someone is visiting your website and they enjoy your content they will come across your e-mail sign-up form. You may be offering a free giveaway of value to individuals that sign up for your mailing list. At this point they would fill in their information to become a subscriber. Once they have signed up to your opt in form they will receive a confirmation e-mail that they must visit the link of an order to confirm their subscription. This is a security feature provided by most e-mail marketing software providers to ensure someone truly did sign up to your e-mail list. As an e-mail marketer this is both good for you and the subscribers of your list. Once they have confirmed their subscription they can then start receiving e-mails from you and also retrieve their free gift for signing up to your e-mail list if you offered one. You can then email them things such as updates about your website, tips, thoughts that you share with them to establish relationships, affiliate product offers, products of your own, or possibly a link to your most recent or past blog posts. Email Marketing Software In order to have a mailing list you’re going to need an e-mail list provider. Email List providers such as Aweber provide software that makes it easy to do all the necessary tasks required to run a successful e-mail list and e-mail marketing campaigns. You certainly don’t want to manually maintain and operate your e-mail list. If you were to manually operate your e-mail list you would have to create your own sign-up forms, manually track sign-ups and unsubscribes, manually create your own list inside your e-mail, find alternative ways to track clicks on your e-mails, and many more tedious tasks. There are many options out there for email marketing software. However, I’m going to give you two recommendations, one of which is free. The first option is MailChamp. The great thing about MailChimp is that you can sign up for a free account and it will remain free until you reach a certain amount of subscribers. With MailChimp you can even decide to upgrade later to a bigger plan or one with more functionality. The second option is Aweber. I consider it to be the industry standard when it comes to e-mail marketing and maintaining an e-mail list. Many top bloggers and top Internet marketers highly recommend Aweber as it is a superior service to almost all other e-mail marketing software available. Aweber is what I use and it certainly has many benefits over other services I have tried. My two favorite features of Aweber are the user interface and the templates for creating subscription forms. AWeber is by far the nicest user interface that you can get to manage your e-mail list. Everything is laid out nicely and it’s easy to understand how to set everything up and start your e-mail campaigns. They even have a set up wizard that walks you through the beginning steps and plenty of tutorials on their website if you get lost. If you really want to go top-of-the-line and get the industry standard than I would highly recommend you start out with Aweber. If you’re unsure and wanted free option MailChimp is good too. One thing that’s very important to point out is that it’s hard to transfer your subscriber list from one provider to another. So if you do decide to start out with another provider and transfer later you may lose a lot of subscribers in the process. So make sure you get what you need up front so you don’t experience this. Email Marketing is just one of the many tools bloggers use in there day to day blogging business.
