Any person who consumes a day sitting in front of his computer may have heard about this news. Well, I think practically everybody will. Why do I say this? That’s because the news I’m talking about is talks of the number one social networking site to ever influence the lives of not only millions, maybe even billions – Facebook. Zuckerberg’s pride and glory has raised the bar to some point where it is now seen as a huge threat to another big guy in the networking society. And friends, that would be Google. I’m not talking about its Nexus tablet so keep those tablet folios for now. Remember how Google stomped Yahoo in terms of locating good search hits? That time when you are looking for quality articles that can help you in your research or anything that you wish to find or merely a word that you have encountered and don’t understand, and it was Google who assisted you with it? Apparently, that’s about to fall apart anytime now. Similar to the deal with Apple’s smartphones hammering Blackberry’s down to the ground that it seemed almost impossible to get back up. On the 15th of January, Facebook released the best weapon they have at their disposal, the Graph Search. Graph Search is the newest feature for Facebook that allows its users to search the preferences of your friends whenever you feel like to. It is so much different from Google’s search engine because this feature for Facebook gives you actual answers to your inquiries and not just links, mind you. To think that people expected a smartphone from Facebook was a bit amusing on my part. Everyone from the networking society was so excited to what Facebook has to announce on January 15th and they didn’t fail to satisfy the audience’s anticipation. In my opinion, this is the best Facebook feature yet. The timeline was a big no-no for most people and didn’t really gather positive responses. It could be part of the reason why Facebook developed the Graph Search is to cover up the failed targets of the timeline. The only downside of the Graph Search is that the ‘hits’ it can provide are based on the friends you already have. So less Facebook friends means less possibilities on finding the object you are asking for. At the very least, this is the complication that Facebook is already facing. Nevertheless, with the great minds behind the firm foundation of Facebook as lead by Mark Zuckerberg, I assume they are already thinking of ways as to how they can resolve this issue. What I am anticipating right now is Google’s counter move to this potential threat posed by Facebook. Google is made up of geniuses as well and I think, like Apple and Samsung, this here ladies and gentlemen will shape up as an amazing battle of wits.
