No matter what your (business) goals or dreams are, one thing always shows up once you start to pursue them: Resistance. It shows up when you think about your BIG mission. It shows up when you start fulfilling it. It shows up every time you grow, move forward, make a change or take a leap. Resistance is what causes people to give up on their dreams and goals - often before even taking the very first step. Totally understandable. Resistance feels bad. It comes in many forms and results in different nasty feelings: from feeling mildly uncomfortable to a full-blown panic attack, and everything in between. I certainly know how it feels to completely freak out when I was only THINKING about something. And I've given up or procrastinated as a result of it many times. But I'm no longer allowing it to stop me. First of all, because I don't want to look back on a life full of regrets, wondering what might have happened if I at least tried something instead of given up. And secondly, because I learned how to deal with resistance and move forward despite of it. There are many ways to move through resistance. In my program Business Magic, I teach my clients several different ways to move through it, so they can choose which method works best for them or the specific intention they are manifesting. Before I share one of those methods with you, let's first take a look at some of the ways resistance can show up: - Fear;
- Doubts;
- Voices in your head telling you negative stories;
- Excuses;
- Drama;
- Etc.
So how do you move through it? One method to do that works like this: Think about a goal or desire that's important to you, but you can't seem to move forward or make much progress. Write down all the reasons why you think this is happening. Why can't you take action? What's stopping you? Who's stopping you? Make a list of every reason you can think of. When you've completed your list, ask yourself for every item on your list: How could I do this differently? Could I do something else instead? Is it ab-so-lu-te-ly necessary to solve this before I can move forward? Is there ANY other way or action I COULD be taking? Who could help me? If something REALLY matters to you, you will ALWAYS find a way. You'll either find a way or an excuse. And it's up to YOU to decide what you want to find. That is NOT bad news, by the way. It is actually VERY GOOD NEWS! It means that YOU have the power - and not your situation. Or the economy. Or your partner. Or your thoughts, doubts and fears. YOU have the power. You are so much more powerful than you think! This week's transformational action: What goal or dream do you have that you're not making much progress on? Check if you still REALLY want it. If not, dump it. If yes, make the list of reasons and answer the questions above. Take the time to go through the exercise, and take action on the outcome. You'll feel much better.
