How I Found Breweries Near Me Worth Visiting

Food & Beverages,Hobbies,Advice
Most of my friends would say that I’m an outgoing guy that like to enjoy the good life as often as possible. This includes trying a lot of new things, and trying to find hidden gems, as was the case when I decided to check out the breweries near me that I thought were worth checking out.

Some of you might be curious as to why I’d be looking to visit breweries. Technically, we all tend to know a brewery as a large building with all the machinery in place that is responsible for delivering that good stuff to us in various sizes and numbers. Things, however, have changed when it comes to modern-day breweries. They tend to be run in such a way where the proprietors invite the public in by way of attaching a restaurant or tap room/tasting room/watering hole. This way, you can see how things are done, and there’s something to be said about freshness & transparency when the beer you’re drinking was made and bottled about fifty feet from where you are sitting.

The first thing I did was start asking my friends, family, and co-workers for any recommendations. The only real stipulation I had was that I didn’t want to have to drive hundreds of miles. You could view this as a bit of a lame first step, but you’d be surprised how much of a resource your people can be. Think about the roots and mission statements of the largest social media platforms. At their core, it’s all about connecting people. Luckily, there are still people out there, people you know, who’ve seen & done things you haven’t, so who better to ask for a recommendation than them?

Then, I involved what many would consider being the more obvious first step — I got online. The internet has been great for a lot of reasons, but perhaps the one reason that people have defaulted to it has to do with knowing where things are and how to get to them. All I did was a quick search for breweries with my zip code, and there in front of me were a number of choices. A cursory glance at ratings & reviews gives me an idea of places to avoid, but I’m also seeing just how close some of these breweries are to me.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about drinking beer, it’s that it goes really well with good food. Start paying attention to your city or town’s restaurant landscape. If you start seeing more spots popping up where you can get some grub, you may have found a clue as to where some good beer can be found. We mentioned before that a lot of new, smaller breweries have started pairing their operations with those of an attached restaurant or tap room. It seems like a generalized pattern, but so far, it’s worked out pretty good.

In the end, finding which of the breweries near me that were worth checking out was as simple as just getting out & visiting them. Sure, I could come up with a detailed plan of action based on online reviews, and I could decide on to visit a new restaurant & luck out on finding a killer brewery. But I could just as easily walk in and check things out. It’s a little direct, but the next time you’re over at my place & I treat you to some of the best beer you’ve ever had, you’ll thank me.
