226. Healthcare in America Hurting More Than Helping?
February 16, 2014
Healthcare in America today is a hot topic that no one will be able to ignore any longer. No matter what side of the fence you find yourself on, there are some ways that the new healthcare laws are negatively impacting our nation as a whole. The first of which is that because of the new healthcare laws the cost of healthcare to Americans will increase exponentially. This is in part because of the “guarantee” that insurance companies cannot turn someone away because of a preexisting condition. Well naturally what takes place when sick people who previously could not go to the doctor with insu... (read more)

227. Employment Law Tribunals Reach New Highs
February 13, 2014
The commercial law firm EMW has released information detailing how enormous backlogs of tribunal cases are waiting to be heard. These cases make up a total of 625,371, and the sheer magnitude of this figure is believed to be having repercussions throughout the entire UK legal system.
The EMW calculated these figures by using data provided by the HM Courts and Tribunals Service, which tallied the figure by reviewing the amount of cases reported between January and September 2013. These figures show a clear 10% rise compared to five years ago when 251,900 cases were reported through simila... (read more)

228. Mexican Energy Crisis
February 04, 2014
More than ever before, Mexico is starting to see some problems when it comes to keeping up with its own demand for electricity. As has been the case for several years, spanning into decades at this point, the country has just barely been able to keep up with the need for power supply. The electricity monopoly, which is owned and operated by the government, has stayed a couple steps ahead of the demand but they have a very small margin to work with. The CFE has begun working toward revamping some of the hydro-electric plants which have become obsolete over the years. These repairs are looking a... (read more)

229. Super Bowl XLVIII Interview with Obama - Will O'Reilly find the Character or paint a Caricature?
January 28, 2014
Obama says Fox makes a ‘caricature’ of him – is there no truth in parody?
In the late eighties I had the good fortune of having for my friend, a Bavarian born caricature artist who was formerly the head of the art department for a major U.S. newspaper in Texas. He was going through a Bohemian lifestyle period in his life and could be found daily in the French Quarter of New Orleans setting up to do caricatures of visitors and natives alike.
Black and white pictures were the cheapest, but people were more apt to ask for the full color renderings which amplified their particular featur... (read more)

231. Using Surveillance Camera Systems In Public Places
January 23, 2014
Do you consider it an advantage for public safety personnel and security if surveillance camera systems are present? Indeed, it is beneficial for the public when they are guarded with video trackers especially in areas where there is a high crime rate. Portable surveillance cameras can be deployed in places that human security cannot reach or may not be able to secure given the size and distance of a particular location.
Surveillance Cameras Help The Safety Of The Public

232. Are you an Accountable Care Organization (ACO)?
January 20, 2014
Doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers who work together voluntarily to provide high quality care to Medicare patients, are being referred to as Accountable Care Organizations (ACO). These providers will be paid in untraditional ways – it is a fee for service. That means they get paid a set amount (a higher amount than they used to) and the provider accepts responsibility that for the patients they provide care, those patients will get high quality care and preventative services with the goal of decreasing acute care services for those patients. With Obamacare, a law came into ef... (read more)

233. Political Scandals Becoming Increasingly More Prevalent
January 11, 2014
Political scandals seem to be popping up in the news constantly lately, with no sign of slowing down anytime soon. The public's trustworthiness and patience towards their elected officials has been decreasing significantly, and many have lost hope of any change of an honest politician that puts the people first. It's not just scandals that are the issue, often times there are backdoor deals and many things that do not end up becoming scandals, because they never end up being found out. Gridlock in Washington and in Politics can be frustrating, especially since voting in new representatives see... (read more)

234. What a Payday Loan Cap Entails
January 07, 2014
The interest rate on payday loans will be capped this 2014, as announced by the UK government. This comes in the face of complaints about the unreasonably high cost of the loans among borrowers. A cap is already in place in several US states, in Australia, and in some European countries.
Although payday lending gives borrowers the advantage of being able to borrow as much as £1,000 without so much fuss about their qualifications to pay, they come with very high interest rates. Some companies even charge APRs as high as 5000%, with them defending it saying that the short lending period sho... (read more)

239. Natural Medicine: Don't Pay for Prescriptions From Obamacare Use Natural Medications
December 11, 2013
It has been put out that prescriptions under Obamacare will be paid by the patient. Most insurance programs pay at least a portion of the medicine you receive. I am not sure most know how much prescriptions cost if you have to pay them fully and out of your own pocket. Most medicines are at least $25, which is about the least expensive and goes up into the hundreds for some medications. What does this mean? It means that in addition to the increase of insurance premiums, you will be paying hundreds of dollars more every time you get sick. Just for a simple sinus infection or strep throat it wi... 240. Emergency Preparedness Medicine: How to be Prepared for Emergencies When Someone Gets Sick
December 02, 2013
When preparing for emergencies, it seems many of us spend a lot of time storing food, putting money away, fuel, generators, weapons and ammunition? That is all great. So what happens when you get sick and there is no medicine or no doctors, or doctors are so busy with emergency care and saving lives of people in critical condition, that they have no time for the normal sinus infection strep throat, pneumonia etc. What about medications for the chronically ill and the elderly? Seems those that are prepared are missing something very vital, Medicine. So where do we get it? How do we get it? We ... (read more)

241. Attention to detail needed when implementing UID systems
November 18, 2013
Marking defense assets with unique identifiers that can be used to track the items throughout their lifetime is a straightforward concept. But when it comes to implementing Unique Identification of Items according to NATO standards, one must pay attention to numerous details. Many of these specifics can be found in two documents: AUIDP-1 (Allied Unique Identification of Items Publication) and a Standardization Agreement, STANAG 2290.
Benefits of UID
Unique Identification of Items (UID) is a standardized method for giving items a unique identifier that stays with them throughout thei... (read more)

242. Verification of IUID labels boosts MIL-STD-130 compliance
November 18, 2013
A common requirement for contractors doing business with the Department of Defense is to label each piece of equipment with an item unique identifier, or IUID. The DoD uses this IUID to track the equipment throughout its lifetime. MIL-STD-130 spells out requirements for the IUID, which is typically a 2D Data Matrix bar code. The label must last the lifetime of the equipment — potentially decades — and withstand a variety of environments. While that’s a key consideration in designing the labels, even more fundamental is ascertaining that the label can be reliably read and interpreted in the fir... (read more)

243. How to Survive a First-Time Abortion
November 17, 2013
Even though it can be terribly scary for a first-timer, abortion can be easily dealt with and overcome. When the patient has the support of the people closest to her, the whole procedure will just be a breeze. There are few things a patient must possess before going through with her appointment with the abortion clinic. I took the liberty of making an acronym out of it-A-B-O-R-T-I-O-N-so that readers can easily recall this in the future.

244. All You Need to Know About Government Grants For Small Medium Enterprises
November 17, 2013
One of the most common problems with any small to medium enterprises starting up today, or even progressing, is the lack of funding. Just a few years ago, there was funding available privately and through the government for anybody who required it.
Unfortunately, things have changed and many people have been left with huge debts or folded businesses. Thankfully, government grants for small to medium enterprises (SME) are still available through many different companies. Before registering for the opportunity to receive a government grant, though, you need to have a few things in place. ... (read more)

245. Government Preparing For Power Grid Shutdown
November 17, 2013
(Thomas Dishaw)If you haven't noticed there has been a lot of talk regarding the power grid lately. Highly ranked Government officials continue to go on record warning us that we are in imminent danger of a looming strike on the grid.
Major agencies have issued warnings to the general public advising us to stock up on necessities and reminding us that our basic way of life will be drastically affected when a strike like this occurs. Hurricane Sandy was a great example of this when gas tanks were unable to pump gas, light switches refused to turn on the lights and home heating systems fail... (read more)

246. The Real Reason They Want To Ban Cursive
November 17, 2013
(Thomas Dishaw) Cursive writing was once considered an anchor in the elementary school curriculum, as flowing strokes of letters joined together to make words resemble handwriting.
Over the years, we have seen an alarming trend as schools systems abandon this writing technique, leaving the burden on the parents to continue teaching this writing style if they choose to. You may be asking what's the big deal? Cursive writing is outdated and irrelevant, right? It's 2013, and in today's world you don't need to learn cursive because we spend most of our time on a computer typing emails, sendi... (read more)

247. Kinect: The All Seeing Eye On Top Of The Television
November 17, 2013
(Thomas Dishaw) According to recent Nielsen statistics 56% of the households in the US own a video game console. Unbeknownst to many Americans this can be an open invitation to let big brother into your house. Disguised as a video game add-on, Microsoft's Kinect is the all seeing eye that sits on top of your TV watching your every move, listening to every conversation and even monitoring vital health information. Now imagine if the Government went door to door and wanted to put a black box on top of your TV (and I'm not talking about your cable box) that did the same things, hopefully you wo... (read more)

249. Insider: Supermarkets Have Less Than One Day Supply Of Food On Hand
November 17, 2013
(Thomas Dishaw) Most of you have read about or witnessed the chaotic scenes in supermarkets that ensued over the weekend due to the national EBT card outage. In Louisiana barbaric savages filled carts to the brim after learning their accounts had no limits and could steal hundreds of dollars of food with no consequences. Hopefully this was a wake up call to everyday citizens that preparedness is a strategy we need to be instituting in our ever so busy and chaotic lives. 250. TSA Megalomaniacs Are Here To Dominate, Intimidate and Control You
November 17, 2013
(Thomas Dishaw) Over the years the TSA has incrementally managed to intrude many areas of our lives. Inherited powers that were granted to us by The Constitution and Bill of Rights have now strategically been thrown out the window to protect you and your family from a fake war on terror. Unbeknownst to most the situation is much deeper than that.
