A 7.9-magnitude earthquake with a depth of 73 kilometers struck the New Ireland region of Papua New Guinea Saturday.

A two-day search for missing Chinese mariner Guo Chuan ended late Wednesday, according to U.S. Coast Guard Hawaii Branch officials.
