Found another way to use alcohol inks. Pebeo Prisme paints are really cool paints that will blend beautifully and create stunning cells all by themselves. Once you start playing around with them it is hard to stop.
There are a ton of methods I am sure, but here is what I did. Using some empty silver bezels I normally use for clay crafts, I simply poured in a drop of 3 colors and simply tilted and turned the bezel.
The paints interact with each other seamlessly and once the paints start drying, the cells magically appear. The paints I bought have a shimmer to them so it gives it an extra majestic type feel.
The ones above I have added a few drops of alcohol inks and it tends to stay in the creases of the Prisme paints. I used a razor blade tip and tilting the bezel to guide the colors in a certain direction or to blend them better.
Once you add the alcohol ink drops, let it move on its own for a little bit (like 20-30 seconds). Then lightly blow the paint. The inks will usually sink into the background and fill in the creases. This is one of the most fun, spontaneous, and relaxing crafts I have done in a long time. The combo truly creates some cool looking jewelry.
The designs are incredibly unpredictable. A lot of times you really need to keep an eye on them until they dry. Maybe 5 min-ish once you stop moving the paints around).
After the paints dry for a few hours, then I go back and add some type of glossy accent (or Modge Podge Dimensional Magic. Let this sit overnight. Come morning you will see how much the gloss has enhanced the ink colors, and it will have a nice seal.
Furthermore... You can try steel washers as well. It is a bit more messy because there are no sides, but you could totally add some painters tape or just wear gloves:)
