Carbon Negative Living

Home Business,Home Improvement,Real Estate
While sharp gas and electricity bill rises have dominated the headlines this year, the cool, hot summers gave our third utility – water – a quiet ride for a while. However, the recent dry spell combined with announcements of inflation-busting water bill rise has put water back in the spotlight. Take these three simple steps to save tens of thousands of litres of water every year and reduce your bills. 1. Replace your old lavatory with an ultra-low flush - three-litre one. Years of wiping away peeling paint and rust reduces the efficiency of lavatory. If replaced it with one of the lowest flush toilets currently available, it could help you in the following ways. Each time it is used, we save 10 litres of water, which means 700 litres saved in a week and a whopping 36,400 litres a year. This equates to enormous savings for a year. The prevention of thousands of litres of treated water simply being flushed away also reduces pointless waste.

2. Replace the shower head with a new ‘Air core’ one Various inventors and designers have spent years trying to perfect an aerated shower head that won’t detract from the pleasures of the morning ablution routine. However, while aerated taps for basins have been accepted by consumers, shower heads simply haven’t managed to re-create that pleasant sensation of warm water hammering on the head. The latest development – a peculiar looking hollow circle with 40 spiral jet holes may be the breakthrough we have been looking for. 3. Create a used water soakaway for bath water While saving used water in underground tanks for reuse is expensive and can often result in revolting smells, it is relatively cheap and easy to create a “soakaway or water recycling plant” at least for bath and shower water. Hard core “greenies” use soakaways even for their kitchen sink waste water but draw the line at animal fat and bits of meat heading into the garden. Carbon negative residences are proving to be economically efficient and many are gradually opting for it. Energy monitors which alert residents when they have left electrical appliances ON are a new fad. Utilising solar energy to its highest, by timing the use of washing machine, dishwasher and oven when the solar panels are at their efficient high increases carbon negative points. The segregation of waste initiative taken up by BBMP helps in sorting waste into its constituent parts to minimise the amount sent to landfill. Thus limiting carbon emission! Providing 70% of green cover, Mulberry Woods has about 70% of the space left for parks, green spaces, roads, utilities, clubhouse, swimming pools etc. Saran Developers are pioneers in creating sustainable energy efficient residences. Carbon negative living might take a bit of getting used to, but the low energy bills and minimal impact on the environment make the learning worthwhile. The impetus for making the changes that would eventually reduce home’s energy requirements comes from both economic necessity and environmental concern. Not fake stone or pebble-dash, this cladding is a wonderfully tactile silvery brown, richly textured and gives the house a kind of arboreal venerability.
