When talking about electrical wiring it means the devices such as conductors that carry electricity around your home. Contrary to what some may think there is more than one type of wiring that is used in your home. Which type is used will depend on three factors, which include how much electricity that is to be carried, the purpose, and the location. If you have any questions about the wiring in your home, you can contact electricians in Orange County. Electrical conductor This is the wire itself and is made from materials good for transmitting current such as copper and other similar material. The wire used is generally insulated as protection for the conductor to help keep it from being damaged in any way. This insulation is made from various materials like fibers and plastics but which insulation that will be used will depend on where the wiring is being installed. There is an international standard for the type of cables and wires that are used in these systems for electrical wiring. When using this standard it will let layman and electricians Orange County know what types of wires compromise the system. One example is that today they use color coating to help to identify wires for repair and installation purposes along with safety. Unfortunately, these colors are not the same for everywhere. In New Zealand, European Union Countries, and Australia a wire that is brown in color will normally denote a live wire but in Canada and the US, it is a black brass color. Stranded wires This is the type of wires that are often used in residential homes. This design is comprised of a central wire, which is wrapped in several solid small gauge wires. This type of wire can increase how much electrical power can be sent through the wires. It is also used because it shapes easily and is flexible, which is the ideal fit for electrical wiring used inside the homes walls. When Orange County electricians are using wiring systems outside the electricians will make sure that it is able to withstand all types of elements. Thermoplastics are commonly the insulators for the outdoor wires. The installation also needs to be UV ray resistant. Electrical wiring in the future in residential homes may change due to wireless and fiber-optic systems. In the future, fiber-optic systems may replace the copper wiring used today. In fibro-optic systems, electric current is carried by light pulses and in the wireless system, it will use radio waves. The radio waves the air will carry them to a central receiving connector. The wireless system is better known as Wi-Fi and many homes to day use it to hook up to the internet without connecting wires and a modem.
