Poland is a country with many chances for the investor. First of all, because it is one of the few countries that in spite of the complicated economic situation provides very encouraging figures. In 2009, it was the only country of the EU which had a GDP growth and in 2010 it was only surpassed by Sweden. Secondly, due to lower wages than the European average, Poland has become a country of great demand for industrial manufacturing production. Establishing a business in Poland is not a problem since the entry in the EU in 2004 as rules for free movement of goods, persons, capital and workers are applied. Anyone can invest in the country without additional requirements accelerating the process and above all the bureaucracy. However, the high growth experienced by the country's economy has been mainly due to the areas of trade, transport and communications. Furthermore, in 2010, these areas increased four tenths their relative weight in GDP. Poland has become an ideal country to invest. Its increasingly reliable economy is growing very fast since 2009, just at the worst time for the European economy. The rating agencies note that it is a stable country and it maintains in 2013 the same risk classification: • Moody´s: A2 • Fitch: A- • S&P: A- Another factor to invest in Poland is the progress of its GDP, +2,0% in 2012 and +4.3% in 2011, bringing the average wage to 850 euros with a drop of 9% unemployment. All indications are that Poland will eventually become a sustainable economy, but for now it needs to improve some aspects such as the budget deficit. In conclusion, Poland is a very attractive country for Spanish investors, as follows from the fact that large companies and financial institutions such as Banco Santander bets on the Polish market.
