Shipping Your Trade Show Displays Internationally? Tips For A Successful Shipment

Business,Import - Export
Whether you're a larger company with an international presence or a smaller business that's looking to become known throughout the world, you'll likely have the opportunity to attend an event that's outside of your country. Before you ship your expensive trade show displays halfway around the world, use these tips to help ensure a successful shipment.

Tip #1: Don't Miss Deadlines When Designing Your Trade Show Displays

If you're exhibiting locally, you probably have a little leeway when it comes to deadlines, even if it means that you need to pay extra to rush the creation. However, if you're planning on exhibiting internationally, you need to have your entire exhibit designed well in advance so that you can ship it on time. Since shipping something overseas can take quite a bit of time, it's vital that your exhibit is completed on time and you can do your part by approving the design so that your display company has enough notice for its creation.

Tip #2: Ask If Your Trade Show Displays Will Be On A Plane Or On A Boat

If your shipment is going over water, you'll need to ask whether it will be placed on an airplane or stuck on a boat. A boat will obviously take quite a bit longer and require a more lengthy lead time, so it's important to plan well in advance. If you don't ask and simply assume that your exhibit will be sent via air freight, you could be stuck at the event without your trade show displays, wasting your efforts and your company's money.

Tip #3: Use A Partner That's Well-Versed In Local Shipping Customs And Follow Its Advice

Different countries might have very different rules and custom regulations that need to be followed before your trade show displays can be delivered to the event venue. One of the major advantages of using a partner that understands the local customs is that they'll understand just how early you need to send your shipment. They'll be able to plan for likely delays at customs and ensure that your packages make it to the airport early in the week so that you have some extra time just in case the customs officials want more time to clear the packages.

Tip #4: Address Your Labels Completely In The Local Language

If you're going to be exhibiting in a country where English is not the local language, it's going to be important that your shipment is addressed so that the locals can deliver it correctly. Many companies ensure that everything is delivered correctly by addressing the labels in both their language and the local native tongue. However, make sure that both addresses are located close to each other or even side-by-side so that it's clear where the package should go.

If you're going to be exhibiting internationally, make sure that you know what to do when it comes to sending your trade show displays. Use these tips and a top-quality shipping partner to ensure that everything arrives on time and in one piece.
