As for button insert, it has the better blending and distorting ability comparing with other insert. Consequently, it has been mostly used in the more compulsory and harder rock formations. But since the contact area with the rock, the resistance it suffered from is bigger, so the drilling speed of it is slower than other bits. The powder groove on the top of the drill is another factor that affects the service life of the down the Hole bits. The depth of the powder groove should be according to the drilling weight, the land formation of the land, the diameter of the drill and so on. Generally speaking, when the drilling weight is big and the rock formation is hard, the depth of the powder groove can be relatively small.
