101. How to make friends as adults
June 03, 2021

As we get older, it gets more difficult to make new friends. Most of your time is spent either at work, with your kids, with your significant other, or all of the above. Overall, we’re living our own lives. And it’s the same case with our friends so it becomes more difficult to schedule time to meet up. I’m personally starting to feel the difficulty in meeting new people as well, especially since I’m no longer in school and would much rather be left alone doing my own things. It was so much easier when we were younger and friendships kind of just came naturally. And now it’s a myster... (read more)

102. Even when people go to extremes, they're unable to get any attention
June 01, 2021

Take this video I watched, for example. It was a surveillance clip from Inside Edition showing an armed robber attempting to force a cashier to hand over all the money from the register. The funny thing was, the cashier noticed him but continued to prepare food for the customer who ordered it. He gave the customer the food, both pretending as if the armed robber wasn’t even there, and the cashier walked away. After a few moments, the armed robber walked out while looking back and gave the cashier a ‘forget you’ gesture. Nothing must feel worse when you can’t get anybod... (read more)

103. All hell is breaking loose for those who rely on ad revenue
May 31, 2021

Nowadays, more and more people are making a living off of being content creators on platforms like YouTube and Twitch. But at the same time, more and more people are being screwed over by the exact same platforms. Take this story, for example: There’s a YouTube content creator I’ve been following for almost 10 years. In one of his podcast episodes, he revealed that at the peak of his career, he was making over $10,000 per month. His channel blew up after one of his rant videos went viral. Since then, he grew it by consistently uploading videos once or twice a week, and the ... (read more)

104. What happens when you give a quality camera to a beginner photographer
May 28, 2021

Long ago, I joined an affiliate marketing course. Like a lot of digital courses, one of the perks came with access to a private Facebook group. It was easy to tell that the course was marketed towards beginner online businesspeople. There were a lot of common questions like: “What’s the best Wordpress theme to use?” “Should I get Clickfunnels? Or is there a better alternative?” Remembering this reminded me of a conversation I listened to between a photographer and film editor, and it went something like this. One of the photographer’s fans asked the photograp... (read more)

105. Paying my respect to the stand-up comedy business
May 27, 2021

If you follow the stand-up comedy world, you probably know that the whole business is slowly getting ruined by cancel culture. One of the latest comedians under fire is Tony Hinchcliffe, who’s mainly known for insult comedy. During his final performance before he got canceled, there was an Asian stand-up comic who performed before him. And when he introduced the crowd to Tony Hinchcliffe, that’s when the situation started going down. Someone posted an edited video on Twitter where he started off his set with, “How about one more time, for the filthy little f---ing ch--k tha... (read more)

106. Not all big businesses are heartless after all
May 25, 2021

Throughout my life so far, I’ve only traveled by plane a total of two times. Once to Atlanta to attend a live seminar put up by the great business and mindset coach, David Neagle. The other time to Chicago with a friend as a spontaneous trip. Both of those airline experiences were quite pleasant. But I know some people have had unpleasant experiences, especially when they travel with children. Thankfully, American Airlines has a heart and I read that they launched a new program to make group traveling a lot less stressful. For a small fee of $150, or large dependi... (read more)

107. Another case that proves why you should flee from free
May 24, 2021

For the sake of privacy, I’ll be keeping parts of this article vague where it’s necessary. I have a friend who was going through a lot of anxiety and depression a long time ago, to the point where he decided to go through some therapy. He had two options: 1. Use one of those therapy apps like Talkspace or Betterhelp, both of which typically cost over $50 per week, but you can virtually communicate with your therapist five days a week through text or audio message. 2. Schedule to meet with a college-provided therapist once a week for free, but technically not since the cost ... (read more)

108. Why aggressive sales pitches are turn-offs
May 21, 2021

I came across a video from Dragon’s Den, the United Kingdom’s version of Shark Tank. In this particular clip, two entrepreneurs pitched a machine that produces water out of air, which sounds cool and very useful if you’re in, say, a desert or a droughted area. They explained how it works, gave a demonstration, and the success of their product so far. Everything went smoothly. That is, until the five venture capitalists started picking apart their business model. Now, there were a few red flags: 1. They openly stated that their business model was going to be pyrami... 109. Why I chose music production over photography
May 20, 2021

Music vs pictures. Which one is more likely to provoke an emotional response? That was one of the main questions I had in mind when I was choosing between music and photography as my new hobby to pursue about two years ago. At the time, I was taking a film photography class in college and I was having a conversation with a friend, who’s also a photography enthusiast, while we visited a photography expo. We were talking about how we both thought about learning music production as a hobby, but we had different reasons for getting into it. I wanted to get into it because ... (read more)

110. Investing in Dogecoin while risking your entire financial well-being
May 19, 2021

Imagine having someone take their life savings, their stock portfolio, loans, and their credit cards and investing them all into Dogecoin, a cryptocurrency that was meant to be taken as a joke. Well, no need to imagine because somebody actually did it. Why? He did it, and I quote, “Because it’s doge!” This was a video shown on none other than TikTok, where people, as young as 16, are giving financial advice to their viewers. Sorry, but to the people who would take their advice and end up losing money in the end, it’s all on you. But if you end up gaining a sackload of ... (read more)

111. The story of unapologetic apartment trespassers
May 18, 2021

I can’t believe these types of people exist. Let me explain. On a podcast episode, there were two people (Dave and Ed) who moved into a new apartment in Koreatown, Los Angeles. After they moved in, they threw a house party where anyone in the town was allowed to attend. But that wasn’t the only party, they threw a couple of other weekend house parties as well. Soon enough, they pretty much established themselves as the new friendly, welcoming neighbors of Koreatown. And while it sounds nice to have a good reputation in a new neighborhood, this particular one came with ... (read more)

112. A close examination into cancel culture
May 17, 2021

That is going to be the topic for today. I read a sentence online that was really interesting, which was, “Cancel culture is not real.” Let’s think about this for a few minutes because it’s possible that there’s possibly some truth in that sentence. First off, the way it works is that somebody, typically a celebrity or influencer, says or does something their critics don’t like, they bombard them with negativity and criticism, and then they disappear from the face of the world. Sometimes their critics call them out on an opinion that they don’t agree with. Sometimes th... (read more)

113. Here's a useful profile of sleazy online businesspeople
May 14, 2021

Once again, Buzzfeed has sucked me into another one of their entertaining articles. This time it was about different red flags that people came across from their previous jobs. There were plenty of stories, but I will only share two today. The first story was about a person who worked as a salesperson for a vacuum company. The first sales call he made was to an elderly woman. She had no interest in buying a vacuum, plus she was trying to support her son who was in the hospital. Despite her declining, the supervisor took over the call and pushed the sale on the woman to the point... (read more)

115. Either McDonald's is smart or wicked
May 12, 2021

One thing that’s mind-blowing is just how much of a presence McDonald’s has in the entire world. In the United States alone (Except for Montpelier, Vermont), they have over 14,000 restaurants. That’s about 4,000 more than the number of hospitals established countrywide. One interesting thing I recently learned about them is how they get us hooked into their world at a young age. Listen to this. There was an article written two months ago on Mashed titled, “The Dangerous Truth Lurking Inside Every McDonald's Happy Meal“ where a neuroscientist named Dr. Nicole Avena dove deep... (read more)

116. Addressing another prediction from a self-proclaimed Internet marketing prophet
May 10, 2021

I just saw this post on Facebook saying, “Info products are dead! Yes, this is what people in Germany are telling you right now. Everyone goes for HT (high ticket) coaching. What’s your opinion?” I’m glad you asked my fellow Facebook user. First of all, let’s first define what an info product is. According to a random website I came across on DuckDuckGo, Startupbros.com, this is their definition: “An information product (or info product) is any digital (I think physical should be included too) product that conveys knowledge or specific information, in the context of educati... 117. Settling the long ongoing Internet marketing debate once and for all
May 08, 2021

The ultimate Internet marketing debate has been going on since the existence of Myspace probably. Which form of marketing is more superior, email marketing or social media marketing? This is no different than arguing which is better, old or new? Some say “old is gold,” but others will counter-argue, “old is not always gold, sometimes new is what to do.” This reminds me of a video I recently watched from a content creator named Dhar Mann. Long story short, it was about an interior design company figuring out how to better market themselves. They had a long dry spell of inbou... (read more)

118. Ben Franklin helps people become better marketers from beyond his grave
May 06, 2021

Ben Franklin wrote a short document on October 1730 called, “On Conversation.” I took a couple of minutes to read the document myself, and admittedly, it’s a bit of a heavy read. Luckily, a philosopher by the name of Jonny Thomson broke it down so we can digest the information better. He boiled it down to five major mistakes that’ll make you an unlikeable person, which are: 1. Talking too much Because nobody likes a chatterbox that doesn’t know how to shut his or her mouth. There are a few exceptions though. I personally know someone who can talk all day, but I do... (read more)

119. The time of marketers getting their wallets fat from cookies may be coming to an end
May 05, 2021

I’m not talking about the baked goods, silly. I’m talking about computer cookies. Computer cookies are pieces of data that track activities that you do on the computer like the websites you visited, the items you added to the shopping cart of an online retail store, saving login information, and other things of that nature. For marketers, they’re used to track their customers’ behaviors and run effective retargeting ads, which is why sometimes you see certain ads “follow” you around on the Internet. But now, companies are getting more strict on how they manage the data they... (read more)

120. Captialism at its finest
May 04, 2021

One of my friends shared some unfortunate news that he may lose his job because the company he has been working for was acquired by another well-established company. Here’s the story. The former CEO allowed a brokerage to invest in the company, and they seemed excited to start working together. A few years later, the brokerage company insisted on letting their sister company, an investment bank, get involved as well, and the former CEO approved it partly for nepotistic reasons. At the end of 2020, he gets a phone call from his lender saying that they sold part of his debt t... (read more)

121. "Pretty Privileges" are invalid in business
May 03, 2021

Back in the days when I was a naive teenager, I came across other like-minded teenagers who would complain about good-looking people, that they have unfair advantages in life. Apparently, there’s even a term for it, which is... “Pretty Privilege.” So what are some of the unfair advantages they were speaking of? Well, from my observations and word-of-mouth: 1. They have better chances of landing a job. 2. They’re more likable and get more attention (Which can be bad). But as a result… 3. They’re naturally more persuasive too. 4. They also have an easier t... (read more)

122. Why people are so addicted to reading YouTube comments
April 30, 2021

One thing that’s great about the Internet is that it allows the most weird and humorous people to anonymously express themselves. And one of the most common places to do that is the YouTube comments section. Oftentimes I catch myself skimming through the comments before I even start watching the actual video. I remember coming across one of those public child-shaming videos. In the video, the mother was asking her teenage son to help her with something. To which the boy responded, “Not now. I’m busy reading YouTube comments.” Of course, like all public child-shaming videos endin... (read more)

123. Why everyone, even grown adults, should embrace play time
April 28, 2021

I read this great article about Steve Jobs’ former Executive Assistant releasing a new book called, Pause. Breathe. Choose.: Become the CEO of Your Well-Being In the book, he goes into the former Apple CEO’s habits. Specifically, his use with his iPhone. Most smartphone owners never turn off their phone. The only times they turn their phones off, or even restart them, are when the battery dies or there’s a software update. Steve Jobs was no different. He always left his phone on except when he was in the office of Apple’s former chief of design officer. Whenever he was... (read more)

124. The company that tries to lure new customers in with $100 gift cards
April 27, 2021

I had a pretty interesting morning a few days ago. My grandpa recently moved to his new apartment and he was given instructions on how to set up the electricity and phone line. He asked my mom to help set everything up, and later on, she asked me to help out since her English fluency isn’t the best. She told me she was on the line with a Verizon salesperson. Now during the phone call, there were a few suspicious red flags that came up: 1. The person on the line who sounded like he’s from India, named Chris which I doubt is his actual name, said I was eligible to win a ... (read more)

125. Do Google Ads work?
April 27, 2021

So, if you pay any attention to digital marketing, and as a business owner of any size, you absolutely should, you may be hearing a lot of people telling you that traditional digital marketing through pop-ups, overlays, and her station systems and banner ads should be abandoned due to not working anymore. This may leave you wondering if things like Google Ads are worth your time, and things like SEM as well. Well, if you are interested in Google Ads in Wall, I have good news for you. While people saying that you should stop wasting a lot of energy on banner ads and other physical mechanisms w... (read more)
