Not sure why this randomly popped into my mind. |
But back in my high school days, I used to take the bus to school. During that time, that was also when everyone started to upgrade to smartphones. And I really started to notice how often people check their phones.
Having a high school mentality at the time, I just thought those people were just super popular and were constantly texting others.
Seeing that used to make me feel a little lonely and jealous on the inside.
I’m happy people don’t constantly bother me through text. More quiet time for me.
Anyways, after some further observation, it’s not really the case.
A lot of the time, when people go on their phones, it’s not because they’re texting people, but it’s because they’re checking out what’s new on social media, especially Instagram. That platform was gaining popularity.
And then Snapchat came into existence, which got people spending even more time on their phones.
What makes these platforms so addictive?
There are many reasons, but the biggest one being the classic fear of missing out.
People want to see what’s happening in the lives of their friends and strangers, they want to stay on top of the latest content, and they want to experience something new.
Attention is what these social media platforms want you to give. After all, the ultimate goal is to design their platforms in a way that keeps people engaged for as long as possible.
People behave similarly when it comes to checking their emails, but the addiction isn’t as intense.
But while they check their emails, you might as well give them something good to read.
That’s exactly what the inside content of How to Become an Email Titan teaches you.
