2. The functionality of sliding sash windows
March 07, 2018

The sliding sash window has been around for many years, architecturally speaking. It did go into a bit of a decline in popularity, when the first double glazed casements and plastic windows came out: but now, thanks to an initiative from a respected Irish company, it is back. The sash window has been re imagined as the most modern of domestic fittings: and finally, its beauty is offset by a proper usability. The old style sash window looked amazing - but it was very difficult to guarantee its long lasting service. The sash raising mechanism was usually made of rope and metal, which meant ... (read more)

3. BOYLE'S LAW
March 01, 2018

Boyle’s law is also called Boyle-Mariott law. Boyle’s law describes the behavior of ideal gas. The law was published in 1662 by Anglo-Irish Boyle. Boyle’s law is defined as gas law experiment that normally describes how gas pressure increases the volume of container decreases. Boyle’s law is most applicable when the temperature remains constant when both volume and pressure changes. Boyle’s law can be written as PiVi= PfVf where Pi is the first pressure, Vi is the first volume, Pf is the last pressure and Vf is the last volume. When the volume of a mass is doubled the gas decreases about ... (read more)

4. Barge Holiday Overview: The River Shannon
November 20, 2017

The River Shannon is Ireland’s longest river and, thanks to the folklore that surrounds it, also one of its most famous. Known in Irish as Abhainn Na Sionainne, the river runs for an impressive 386km from County Cavan in the north to Limerick in the south-west, from where its extensive estuary works its way out into the Atlantic Ocean. Thanks to the sheer length of the river, it is hardly surprising that it winds its way through no fewer than 17 counties, and forms three large lakes (or ‘loughs’) on its way to the ocean. The Loughs – Allen, Ree and Derg – are beautiful places to vis... (read more)

September 27, 2017

With Brexit making daily headlines, the Irish border problem is recognised as one of particular importance and complexity. The Current Situation Thanks to the Good Friday Agreement there are no security stops or checks along the 500km borderline between Northern Ireland and Ireland. August 23, 2016

While County Limerick has given many notable things to the world - from a wealth of artistic and cultural events and institutions to such people as broadcaster Terry Wogan and current President of Ireland Michael D.
