Messianic Jews are a group of people who believes that Yehoshua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ) is their saviour, redeemer and the King of Israel. The term messianic refers to a person who believes that Yehoshua is the prophesied Messiah as per the Tanak (Old Testament). The term Jew refers to any person who considers themselves from the seed of Father Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Unlike Christian denominations, Messianic Jews have different set of beliefs. Many Messianic Jews follow the whole scriptures from Genesis to Revelation which is their fundamental beliefs. They generally do not have a few selected doctrines of belief like the Christian churches. While many people consider Messianic Jews and Messianic Judaism as similar, they are theoretically not the same. Messianic Judaism is a manmade religion (made by men to serve their own ideologies). The word Judaism is not part of the scriptures (not found in the Bible). Therefore, numerous Messianic Jews do not consider themselves as part of Messianic Judaism. Judaism (Jews) in general does not believe that Yehoshua is the Messiah and they consider Him (Jesus Christ) as a heretic. Therefore, Messianic Jews have nothing to do with Judaism. As of today, Jews are still waiting for their Messiah to come. Similarly, Messianic Jews are also waiting for the second coming of the Messiah which is Yehoshua HaMashiach. It is estimated that there are more than 400,000 Messianic Jews around the world with most of them in the United States and in Israel. Messianic Jews are the most persecuted people in the land of Israel because they believe that Yehoshua is the HaMashiach. “And you shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endures to the end shall be saved” (Matthew 10:22) is what inspires Messianic Jews in their daily lives to preserve during oppression. Many people believe that Messianic Jews are part of the Hebrew people’s movement. Basically this is incorrect. By definition, a person who follows the footsteps of the Patriarchs Father Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is a Hebrew. The whole notion of Hebrew movement came out of Christianity when people started to celebrate the Feasts of YHWH. Hebrew movement itself has a lot of divisions and they often don’t agree to each other. Some of them keep the Torah and others don’t keep the Torah. The best way to describe the Hebrew movement is that, they are an offspring of the Evangelical Christian church that now is renamed as the Hebrew movement. The biggest fall of most Hebrew movements is that they do not believe that keeping the Torah is required for salvation. This is contrary to what Yehoshua HaMashiach taught. Yehoshua specially said if you love me keep my commandments (Torah) (John 14:15). The word commandments He was referring to was the Torah as the New Testament was not written when Yehoshua was talking to His people. A true Messianic Jew is one who is not part of any denomination, church group and one who does not play religion. They love God with all their heart and their mind and are ruled by the Laws of God (they are not ruled by men or by religion). They don’t have specific sets of beliefs as they follow the whole scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. They worship the true creator of heaven and earth YHWH who isYehoshua HaMashiach.
