For the most part this is hard for me to comment on because I generally am not the type to hold on to gripes, more than that we keep our nose to the grind stone so much at Led Sleds that we rarely know about so much of this until someone brings it to our attention. But recently when a part we made was infringed upon by another company who took it overseas and are now selling a lesser quality product to American Consumers at a cheaper price than we can, it started to become clear, there are many issues that need addressed. First and foremost the fact that there are no international patents for this kind of situation. Since we are in a time where so many companies like mine, small direct to consumer manufacturers are what’s rebuilding American Manufacturing, we need the help and protection of the government to get it done. It’s up to us as well. I’m so thankful to be part of an industry that for the most part of an industry that for the most part are friends and people who know each other. Think about the cold hard business out there like craft stores and department stores where all that matters is the bottom dollar. Still, you have to keep in mind that in order for us all to do a better, we have to work together. If someone is making a part and you like it, don’t steal the idea, maybe they can source it to you or if you have the ability maybe you can make a deal and make it for them and yourself. It’s encouraging to see that through the years of media outlets who have carried the torch for the buy American initiative some of the larger retailers like Wal-Mart are starting to come around, that company even started a campaign to bring more American made products back into their stores. When it comes down to it, that’s the most important part of this plan, the consumer. Then blue collar guy that’s sitting down for five minutes after busting his ass all day and is watching his TV or reading a magazine. Letting him know the deal on all this stuff, helping him make better decisions is the only way we can hope for change. We have to stop having a Wal-Mart mentality fixed on lower prices and getting things fast no matter what.
