376. The Great False Bachelor's Degree Life Hack
August 22, 2020

One of my friends recently told me a (most likely false) fact about colleges and universities. If you attend a four year college or university and the campus gets destroyed, you automatically earn your bachelor’s degree. “What a great life hack,” I initially thought. Turns out, it’s not true at all. I wasn’t surprised when I found out either. It sounds too far-fetched. But just imagine how funny it’d be to hear people boast, “Yeah, I got my bachelor’s degree in just one semester.” Unfortunately, life is not like that. There are no shortcuts. Just like ho... 377. Some Honorable Mentions of My Exiled Email Readers
August 21, 2020

One day I was giving my email list a little checkup to see how you and the rest of my readers were doing, and I saw a couple of eye-catching things. Some people who opted into my email list never read a single email I sent other than the one that has the link to my lead magnet, the sample chapters of How to Become an Email Titan. I immediately booted them out because they just wanted the free information hoping they’d learn a new secret tip or something. Other people left because they complained about getting too many emails from me. I couldn’t wrap my head around that because both m... (read more)

379. Going Back to the Days of My Rubik's Cube Obsession
August 18, 2020

Back in middle school, I was known as the Rubik’s cube nerd, and rightfully so because my classmates would see me with that toy in my hand every single day. Ever since the day I saw one of my friends play with the cube, I’ve been obsessed with figuring out how to solve it and how to solve it as fast as possible. One minute and two seconds was my fastest record. Even my teachers were so impressed that they didn’t even bother confiscating it. I guess they were so used to seeing me with it, they saw it as an extension of my hand. To this day, I still remember how to solve it. ... (read more)

380. Why I Think Art Classes Shouldn't Belong In Academic Schools
August 17, 2020

Personally, I don’t think art classes should be actual classes in school. And I say that for one reason only. Art is completely subjective. Whatever you create, there are always going to be people who like it and people who are going to hate it. That’s why I think the idea of having one person looking at someone’s work and grading it doesn’t sit right with me. I remember back in high school, I was watching an art teacher grade some of her students’ drawings. She picked up a student’s artwork, looked at them for a few minutes and wrote their final grades on the back. T... (read more)

381. Let's Get Down to Memes
August 14, 2020

You know what I find crazy? This has to do with the startup skincare company I consulted for. My colleague found out from his girlfriend, who apparently works with the company, that they pay people around $1,000 to brainstorm memes for their social media channels. At first, when I heard that, I thought that was one ridiculous way to spend $1,000. But now that I think about it, it’s not so different from writers getting paid to write jokes for a TV show. It takes a lot of creativity to think of new jokes, you know? And looking at their Instagram page, their memes aren’t... (read more)

382. Gingivoplasty Using Diode Laser
August 13, 2020

Introduction- An excessive display of gingiva resulting from a high lip line and abnormal gingival overgrowth often complicates treatment planning and can compromise the final esthetic result. Gingival morphology is being considered as an important factor in smile designing. One significant feature of gingival morphology is the gingival line, which is defined as the line joining the tangents of the gingival zeniths of the central incisor and canine. The gingival zenith is the most apical aspect of free gingival margin. With the current emphasis on cosmetic concerns and esthetics in dentistry, ... (read more)

8 Ways to Improve Your Email Marketing Campaigns I’m sure you’ve signed up for digital newsletters in the past (hopefully eVision Media’s!). Thinking back, do you remember what made you engage with a company’s eNewsletter? Chances are, it was one of these three reasons: 1. To get info on sales and discounts. 2. To be entertained. 3. To learn something valuable. Engagement-based email marketing relates to how your subscribers interact with your eNewsletter. Once they’ve opened it up, you still need to wow them with your content. 384. Free Marketing Lesson From Steve Jobs
August 12, 2020

A few days ago, I came across an interesting video on YouTube. It was Steve Jobs speaking at the Worldwide Developer Conference in 1997. During that conference, there was a moment where an audience member, who was clearly upset, asked young Steve Jobs this attacking question: “...It's sad and clear that on several accounts you don't know what you're talking about. I would like for you to express in clear terms, say how Java, in any of its incarnations, addresses the idea that it embodies in OpenDoc. And when you're finished with that, perhaps you could tell us personally what yo... (read more)

386. How to Be Productive While Doing Absolutely Nothing
August 11, 2020

Hustle culture is everywhere in the business community of social media. I don’t know about you, but whenever I see all the content that’s put out, it makes me feel like I have to do something productive every single minute, otherwise my time is not being put to good use. That along with parental and societal pressures almost makes me feel like I need to be in a workaholic state of mind all the time. I either feel the need to read, write, or do something to build my email list. Whatever work related it may be. At one point, it got pretty bad to the point where I’d feel ... (read more)

387. How to Train Your Brain to Generate Endless Ideas For Writing Engaging Sales Emails
August 10, 2020

A couple of weeks ago, one of my readers, Al, sent me a message on Facebook and he said this. ————— I was wondering - How exactly do you generate the amount of content necessary to email your list every day? It's impressive, and I find your writing to be engaging and interesting. ————— It does seem impressive, doesn’t it? I thought the exact same thing back when I used to email weekly and observed how the daily emailers I follow do it. I thought they had superbrains and were content creation machines. But when I started doing it myself, it wasn’t as difficult as I tho... (read more)

388. I Wonder If This Is Healthy For Me
August 09, 2020

I have an unimportant confession to make. Over the past four months, I’ve developed a possibility concerning obsession with sriracha sauce. I used to stay away from spicy food most of the time and would only eat them once every few weeks. But now I put the sauce on almost every meal I eat every single day. Not only that, but the amount of sauce I put on my food has been increasing at an alarming rate as each day passes. For example: Every morning I make the same breakfast, an egg sandwich, and sometimes I add some cheese, avocado, ham, or turkey. A few months ago,... (read more)

389. What I Learned From Writing Cold Emails
August 07, 2020

A couple of days ago, I talked about how I helped a business owner write a series of cold emails to help generate leads for a new service he was providing for real estate brokers. Now I usually don’t write cold emails, for other people nor for myself. But I thought this might be a good learning experience for myself. Plus it’s not like the person I’m working with was paying me. We established a profit-sharing deal instead, so we both had to make sure the emails were good quality otherwise we both weren’t going to get paid. After writing 14 or so emails, here are a couple of thin... (read more)

390. McDonald's Failed Willy Wonka-like Food Invention
August 06, 2020

Here’s an interesting fact I recently learned: Once upon a time, McDonald’s invented bubblegum-flavored broccoli. What was McDonald’s CEO thinking, that he was going to become the next Willy Wonka? Apparently, he was hoping this could be a way to get children to eat healthier. How ironic. Obviously, the idea backfired because it’s not something you see on their menu today, plus the kids who taste tested the far-from-natural broccoli were more confused than impressed. Instead, they decided to change the way they serve their happy meals by reducing the amount of french f... (read more)

392. The Two Different Types of Public Transportation Passengers
August 05, 2020

If you live in New York City and ride the notorious subway, you’ll most likely relate to what I’m about to say. If you live elsewhere and there’s a public transportation train system that you regularly take (or used to take), you can probably relate too. I was born and raised in New York City my entire life and I’ve been using their public transportation system since I was a child. I particularly enjoyed riding the subway. I can’t put my finger on it, but it was something about trains that really fascinated me. But do you know what really fascinates me to this day? The peop... (read more)

393. How to Not Get Sued For Using Email
August 05, 2020

A while ago, I helped a business owner write some cold emails to get leads for a new service he was providing for real estate brokers. Yesterday, he called me to let me know that he’s putting the project on hold for now. Apparently, his lawyer advised him to put in on hold because one of his other clients is currently getting sued for spam emailing. He didn’t want to risk getting sued either. Since I deal with emailing pretty much everyday, I was well aware of the business laws of emailing, also known as the CAN-SPAM Act, and kept it in mind while I wrote the emails for him. ... 394. Attention-grabbing Plants
August 05, 2020

Last week, I was playing a videogame with one of my friends. We were on a call together too. 20 minutes into the call, his girlfriend joined and we were all just hanging out together. While we were talking, I learned that my friend’s girlfriend is a plant enthusiast. For the record, she is the second plant enthusiast I’ve ever met in my life so far, so the idea of the plant hobby is still new to me. Being the naturally curious person that I am, I asked her what it is about plants that get people so into it. This is basically what she told me: Plants come in all di... (read more)

August 02, 2020

Introduction- Mucoceles are known as “mucus filled cavities” usually present in the oral cavity, lacrimal sac, and paranasal sinuses. Etiology - Mucus extravasation and mucus retention are the two most frequently occurring primary mechanical obstructive diseases of salivary glands. Formation of mucus extravasation cyst is mainly due to mechanical trauma causing rupture of ductal system of salivary gland and mucin spills into adjacent soft tissues. 396. Another Reason to Prioritize Emailing
August 01, 2020

It might actually happen. People have been talking about TikTok and how it’s a national security threat for the United States for quite a while now. Just yesterday, our beloved and forever cherishable President Trump announced that he has plans to ban the app from being used in this country. It has already been banned from being installed in government issued phones. Employees of the Pentagon were told to remove the app from their phones too. Personally, I couldn’t care less about the ban since I never bothered to download the app. The people who would care? Proba... (read more)

398. The Case Of An Artist's Instagram Profile Traffic Tanking Overnight
July 24, 2020

Earlier this year, I met another fellow copywriter who introduced me to a creatives network called GFTD. Usually, the members would meet every Monday evening at a bar in New York City. But since that can’t happen anymore, we have group Zoom calls where people from all over the world join in. There was one day where we were discussing how artists can get more eyes on their work through Instagram. One woman who’s an artist (or graphic illustrator, I don’t exactly remember) shared her experience on Instagram with everyone. Basically, she spent countless hours building up ... (read more)

400. He Needed His Fruits
July 23, 2020

When I started studying the art of copywriting, one of the first readings I was recommended was Gary Halbert's Boron Letters. These were daily letters he wrote to his son while he was in prison. He mainly talked to him about health and business, specifically direct marketing. In one of the chapters, he was talking about how his family gave him a surprise visit on his birthday and brought him a cake. But as much as he wanted to spend time with his family, he had to leave before a certain time so he can get his week's supply of fruit and spend more time with his best prison friend befo...
