When I listened to the title track “Japonesque” of Japanese artist Sienna (living in Norway), I felt, “I know this musician, or at least I’ve heard her mesmerizing work. But I couldn’t place her so I kept listening to a genre of work that could not be pigeonholed or labeled. No doubt when Sienna created this masterpiece, she also created her own new genre that had never been created. sienna2 Having grown up near New Orleans, I could definitely hear the “jazzy influence” yet it was/is not jazz. Having been in bands throughout the years as a musician myself, I’d watched the world turn from southern rock and the British Invasion to a more ambient and electronica sound; with masters such as Andreas Vollenveider from Switzerland. There is a definite electronica feel to Sienna’s music. And living in L.A. in the early 90s and listening to “The Wave” for “cool music not played on other stations”, after listening to Sienna’s Fontebrarda Di Sienna, I could feel the deep rich sound of one of my favorite Celtic Fusion bands “Clannad”. Alas I played her “White Tiger Of The West” and more Andreas Vollenveider vibes. Finally, I realized, I was listening to none of these other favorite artists, but an ingenious musician named “Sienna” who could easily rival any Julliard PhD music candidate but surprisingly completed her Master's program in cultural sciences at the University of Bergen in 2004. I am extremely glad to have discovered Sienna and I truly hope you have that opportunity. You will be pleasantly surprised and music lovers will be in delight no matter what their usual taste in music. Sienna offers a little something for everyone and listening to her tunes results in a very good mood. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sienna is a very hot artist originally from Japan now living and working in Norway who plays a genre of music that I call "Siennaca".
