Crucial Considerations on How to Crate Train a Dog

Pets

Owning a puppy or a dog entails various obligations. You should provide the appropriate crate training. Just like humans, dogs also have shelter we call as crates. This is where they hide when in danger, rest, and eat. Crate training a puppy could be hard and mind-numbing. Even so, the right knowledge on how to crate train a dog will certainly make every pet owner successful in this venture.

The first thing that you should do to achieve success in crate training is to find out what kind of dog breed does your puppy or dog belongs. If your pet belongs to the small dog breed, then it is okay to have a medium-sized crate. The crate of this size is enough for your pet to perform its routine like sleeping, sitting, standing, and moving around. On the flip side, larger crates are needed for big dogs such as American/English Foxhound and Golden/Labrador Retriever.

After you have sorted out the size of your pet's crate, securing all the fundamental crate accessories is your next chore. Comfy crate pads, crate mats, stainless steel cups, and pails are among those. The resilience and convenience of using the crate that you want should be determined first. Simple to lock and unlock doors should be your option so that you can effortlessly take him out.

The second tip on how to crate train a dog is to thoroughly present him to his crate. In accordance with the dog experts' statements, doing this would help your dog become comfortable to his new home. For a few hours, let the puppy/dog remain inside the crate. If the crate is big enough, then feel free to get in too. This is a terrific way of making him feel secure during crate training.

Another tip on how to crate train a puppy is to choose the crate as his feeding place. This is the reason why you need to have a stainless steel cup and pail since it is where you will place his food and water. Moreover, let him get enough rest inside the crate. The first few days of crate training typically involves whining and crying of your pet. You must stay firm no matter how difficult it is for your dog to adjust into his brand new environment. Saying ‘no' would be a great move, and make him go back to sleep. Remember that you are the dog's master so he has to follow what you say.

The fourth consideration in crate training is to let your pet remain inside the crate if you are not around or simply staying home. When at home, don't forget to check him every once in a while. Get back in less than an hour if you are planning to go out. Once you're back home, free him from the crate and let him have a great time while actively playing.

The great challenge of crate training is somehow overlooked by the trainer because of the enjoyment it delivers. If you have a new pet at home but is unaware on how to crate train a puppy, then there are several free videos online that you can check out.
